Those benefits have different menus and eligibility rules. Then check the title’s current availability, restore licenses, and move on to console troubleshooting only if the entitlement checks out.
First, identify which PS Plus benefit the game came from
A Monthly Game you claimed and a Game Catalog title do not have identical access rules. Sony says Monthly Games can be downloaded and played while your membership is active. Game Catalog games require an eligible plan and must still be available in the catalog. PlayStation Plus games can be found in Game Library, but a title disappearing from a catalog does not mean it remains available there indefinitely.

Sony lists Monthly Games with Essential, Extra, and Premium membership, while Game Catalog access is included with Extra and Premium; Classics Catalog access is included with Premium. Confirm the current plan and title availability in Sony’s PlayStation Plus guide before troubleshooting the console.
Check the account that claimed the game
Sign in to the PlayStation account that redeemed the Monthly Game or otherwise has the entitlement. A PS Plus subscriber in the household does not automatically make another account the owner of that redemption. For a recent purchase or voucher redemption, check the account’s transaction history. Sony’s game launch troubleshooting recommends verifying transaction history when applicable.

If you are using another household account, check sharing settings as well. On PS5, the subscriber’s console must have Console Sharing and Offline Play enabled; on PS4, it must be activated as the subscriber’s primary console. Sony notes that selected Monthly Plus downloads and eligible catalog games may be shared, but another account cannot redeem PS Plus games on the subscriber’s behalf. Open the right menu and try the download again
For a Monthly Game on PS5
- From Games home, select PlayStation Plus.
- Open Benefits, then Monthly Games.
- Highlight the game and select Download.
For a Monthly Game on PS4
- Open PlayStation Plus.
- Select Monthly Games and highlight the title.
- Choose Add to Library, then Download.
For a Game Catalog title
- On PS5, open Games home > PlayStation Plus > Benefits > Game Catalog; on PS4, open PlayStation Plus > Game Catalog.
- Choose a title that is currently available and included with your plan.
- Select Download.

Rule out a service or system-software issue
Check PlayStation Network service status. If Sony reports an alert affecting relevant services, wait for restoration and try again; service status is live, so verify it when the problem occurs. Also install any available system software update, as Sony includes updating the console among its launch troubleshooting steps.
Restore licenses if the game still cannot be found
License restoration can help when an entitled game or add-on cannot be located. Sony Interactive Entertainment’s PlayStation Support page, How to restore licenses on PlayStation console, says: “Please note, restoring licenses won’t affect your data.”

- PS4: Settings > Account Management > Restore Licenses.
Use Rebuild Database only after the basic checks
If the account, plan, title availability, sharing settings, service status, software update, and license restore have not solved the issue, try the later troubleshooting step Sony documents: start the console in Safe Mode and select Rebuild Database. This creates a new database of content. Follow Sony’s current Safe Mode and game-launch guidance for the console-specific procedure.

If the game remains unavailable, contact PlayStation Support. Include the error code or message, a clear description of what happens and the steps that reproduce it, plus a screenshot or video if possible. Those details help Support distinguish an account-entitlement problem from a console or download error.
