What order should I watch Gintama in?

Where does the 2026 Yoshiwara Flame film fit?
New Gintama Theatrical Edition: Yoshiwara Flame is a new film adaptation of the Yoshiwara Flame arc. It is best treated as an optional later revisit for an established viewer, rather than as a replacement for the original arc or a required starting point: the official release information does not establish a beginner placement. Aniplex lists Blu-ray and DVD release for August 26, 2026. That date refers to the home-video release listed by Aniplex, not a universal theatrical release date; check the relevant market for local availability. What order should I read the Gintama manga in?
Start at volume 1 and continue in volume order. Shueisha’s catalog lists individual collected volumes in print and digital formats, and the Shonen Jump series page presents the collected series. The catalog checked here is Japanese, so confirm the edition language, format, and local availability before choosing where to buy or read.
For example, the publisher listing consulted for Shueisha is volume 20; it is not evidence that every volume is available in every territory or format. Check the Shueisha catalog and the Shonen Jump Gintama page for their listed editions.

Should I watch the anime or read the manga first?
Choose based on the format you want and the time you can give it. The anime brings voice acting, music, and animated performance; the manga is the original sequential format and lets you set your own pace. Those are differences in medium, not a measured claim that one version is better.
