Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteChanging browser settings is not an established fix for Halo Infinite multiplayer. Halo Support’s recommendations focus on the game’s graphics, frame-rate, matchmaking and diagnostic settings. If Halo feels choppy, first check whether the issue is inconsistent frame rate or network latency, then adjust the corresponding in-game option.
Do browser settings affect Halo Infinite multiplayer?
Halo Support’s guidance does not identify a browser setting that improves Halo Infinite multiplayer. Browser hardware acceleration, for example, is not an official Halo fix. If a browser is open while you play, closing it may be a reasonable way to reduce competing background activity, but the cited Halo guidance does not establish that this will solve a particular performance problem.
For changes supported by Halo’s documentation, start with the game settings and matchmaking options below. The official recommendations are starting points, not guarantees: results depend on your hardware, preferences and the kind of problem you are experiencing.
Which PC settings should you try first?
Halo Support’s competitive settings guide gives this PC baseline. Its Competitive Insights Team cautions that players should adjust the recommendations to their hardware and how the game feels.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Setting | Suggested baseline |
|---|---|
| Resolution Scale | 100% |
| Minimum Frame Rate | 120 |
| Maximum Frame Rate | Unlimited |
| VSync | Disabled |
| Quality Preset | Low |
| Effects Quality | Medium |
| Animation Quality | Max |
| Simulation Quality | Ultra |
These are recommendations, not measured guarantees of smoother play on every PC. See Halo Support’s Recommended Competitive Settings for Halo Infinite and Guide to Halo Infinite Game Settings for the official guidance.
Balance frame rate against image clarity
A 120 minimum frame-rate target prioritizes maintaining 120 FPS by reducing resolution when needed. If that makes the image look blurry or fuzzy, try lowering the minimum target. Separately, Halo’s general settings guide says reducing Resolution Scale below 100% can improve performance; it also notes that a maximum frame-rate limit may improve consistency and smoothness. Test these options on your system rather than assuming the competitive baseline is best for you.

Choose VSync based on tearing and responsiveness
With VSync disabled, the game may reach a higher frame rate, but screen tearing can occur. Enabling VSync can reduce tearing, while potentially lowering peak and average frame rate and adding latency. If tearing bothers you, compare both settings and judge the trade-off in play.
Treat Async Compute as a system-specific test
Halo Support gives no universal recommendation for Async Compute. Enabling it raises CPU overhead; it may help if your system is not CPU-bound, but is likely to lower performance if the CPU is already the bottleneck. Change it only as a controlled test, rather than assuming it is a general performance boost.

How do you tell frame-rate problems from network lag?
Turn on the game’s FPS Counter and Network Statistics in the multiplayer HUD, then watch which indicator changes when play feels less smooth. These displays help diagnose the symptom; they do not improve performance themselves. Halo’s game settings guide describes these HUD options, including a network-latency counter.
- If the FPS Counter drops when the game stutters, investigate graphics quality, resolution scale or frame-rate settings.
- If the Network Statistics latency counter rises while your frame rate remains steady, investigate connection or matchmaking conditions instead.
- If neither indicator changes, these counters alone may not identify the cause.
Should you use Local or Expanded matchmaking?
If latency is the complaint, try Search Region: Local. It restricts matchmaking to your region and may improve ping and latency. Expanded search considers a broader area and may improve skill matching and waiting time. Fireteam matchmaking follows the leader’s setting; the Local region is determined by the locations of fireteam members. These options involve trade-offs, not guaranteed outcomes. See Halo Support’s Search Region guidance.

Halo’s explanation of online play describes how latency affects feedback in an online shooter and says connecting players to closer datacenters can reduce it, potentially at the cost of longer matchmaking waits. That network issue is distinct from browser configuration and from the game’s frame rate. Read Closer Look: Halo Infinite’s Online Experience.
