There is no evidence in the cited sources that AI demand for GPUs caused Grand Theft Auto VI’s delays—or that it has delayed another named game. Rockstar says it moved GTA VI’s date to give the team more time to meet its quality and polish goals. Separately, NVIDIA reports supply constraints and infrastructure challenges for its AI-focused data-center systems. Those facts provide context, not proof of a connection.
What caused GTA VI’s delays, according to Rockstar?
Rockstar announced two schedule changes. On May 2, 2025, it moved the game from a planned fall 2025 launch to May 26, 2026, saying it needed “this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.” On November 6, 2025, it shifted the date again, to November 19, 2026, explaining that “these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.” (Rockstar, May 2, 2025; Rockstar, November 6, 2025)
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick also publicly supported the first extension, saying the company supported Rockstar taking additional time to realize its creative vision. Neither Rockstar’s statements nor Take-Two’s announcement attributed the schedule changes to GPU availability. These are the companies’ stated explanations; they do not independently establish every factor in the scheduling decision. (Take-Two, May 2, 2025)
Does NVIDIA’s AI GPU shortage explain the delay?
No causal link is established by the available statements. NVIDIA’s Form 10-Q for the quarter ended July 26, 2026 says data-center products for accelerated computing and AI drove revenue growth in the first half of fiscal 2027. It also describes supply constraints affecting its Blackwell and Vera Rubin data-center systems, as well as infrastructure needs such as land, power and construction capacity that can limit or delay customer and partner deployments. That filing concerns NVIDIA’s data-center business and infrastructure. It does not say that consumer gaming graphics cards were diverted from game studios, or that GPU supply caused GTA VI’s schedule changes. A supplier’s report of AI-related constraints is not, by itself, evidence that a developer delayed a game for that reason. No other named game delay tied to AI GPU demand is established by these sources, either.
What is the current GTA VI release information?
As of Rockstar’s support page, last updated August 18, 2026, GTA VI is listed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The page does not list a PC version, so it does not establish a PC release date or PC system requirements. Check the Rockstar platform and release information for updates, since dates and platform listings can change.

Rockstar says the physical version described on that page contains a digital download code, not a disc. Its support information also describes edition availability and code-region limits. - Also confirmed: NVIDIA reports AI data-center demand, supply constraints for specified data-center systems and infrastructure bottlenecks.
- Not established: That AI GPU demand caused GTA VI’s delays, or that it delayed another identified game.
For players deciding what hardware is confirmed, Rockstar lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Sony describes PS5-specific features including DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers, controller audio, Tempest 3D AudioTech and the PS5 SSD.
