Is Into the Radius 2 still in Early Access?
No—not on Steam. The PC VR version began Early Access on July 24, 2024, and Steam lists its release date as April 23, 2026. The title’s Early Access wording describes the earlier buying decision, not the Steam version’s current release status. Steam store listing
The PlayStation VR2 version is a separate release. In an August 2026 PlayStation Blog post, game director Aleksei Shulga said it would launch on PS5 on September 24, 2026 as a single-player campaign, with free two-player co-op planned for Q4 2026. That schedule is not confirmation that co-op is available now; check the PlayStation listing or current game updates before buying for multiplayer. PlayStation Blog announcement
What kind of game are you buying?
Steam describes a VR survival shooter built around preparing for dangerous expeditions rather than simply charging into fights. Its advertised systems include modular weapons that can be customized part by part, gear you can configure, weapon cleaning and maintenance, hostile entities, anomalies and changing environmental conditions. The appeal is likely to depend on whether you enjoy managing equipment and approaching encounters carefully; the listing alone cannot establish how well those systems work in play.

For PS VR2, the developer describes a brand-new single-player campaign, environmental storytelling and more granular weapon-part wear and dirtiness. Keep that campaign description distinct from Steam’s current listing, which supports solo play and online co-op. Shulga framed the intended pace in the August 2026 announcement: “If you’ve stepped into the Pechorsk Anomaly before, you know that survival here isn’t about rushing in guns blazing. It’s about preparation, tactical patience, and respecting the unknown.”
Check your platform and hardware first
Steam: VR-only, with specific PC requirements
Steam marks the game as VR Only and lists OpenXR. Its captured minimum requirements are an RTX 2060, 16 GB RAM and an Intel i5-7600k or Ryzen 5-3600; the recommended configuration lists an RTX 3080 and an Intel i7-8700k or Ryzen 7-5700. The listing recommends 72 Hz for the minimum configuration and 90 Hz for the recommended one. These are store requirements, not independent performance measurements, and can change; check the current Steam requirements before purchase.

The same captured listing says HTC Vive Wands and Windows Mixed Reality devices are unsupported. Owning a VR headset is therefore not enough by itself: verify that your controllers and PC meet the current listing’s requirements.
PS VR2: a separate PS5 version
The PS VR2 version is for PS5 and requires the PlayStation VR2 headset. The developer says this version uses adaptive trigger response, headset and controller haptics, 3D Audio, and eye-tracked foveated rendering, with a claimed native 90 FPS. Those are developer statements about the PS VR2 version, not independently measured performance results. PlayStation Blog announcement

Solo play and co-op depend on the version

The PC developer update also describes a Shooting Range for trying weapons and attachments, and a Kill House playable alone or with friends. It names the G3 rifle and MP5 SMG among additions. Its update notes listed two co-op issues at that time: clients could appear below the maze area in Kalasaare Village after a particular teleport, and modular weapon statistics could display incorrectly for clients in the item information window. Those are dated known issues, not verified reports of bugs still present on October 4, 2026. Developer co-op update

Who is it worth buying for?
- Consider it if you already own compatible VR hardware and want a tactical survival shooter focused on equipment preparation, weapon customization and maintenance, exploration, and—on Steam—co-op.
- Check carefully before buying if controller support, PC performance, or playing with friends is essential. Verify your exact hardware and current requirements; for PS VR2, confirm whether co-op has actually arrived rather than relying on the earlier schedule.
- Wait or look more closely if you need a conventional non-VR shooter, want to judge polish from the review snapshot, or are uncomfortable buying without independent performance testing. The cited information does not include hands-on testing, campaign-completion estimates or independent frame-rate measurements.
