Avengers: Secret Wars is a separate film announced as its follow-up. Disney currently lists Doomsday for U.S. theaters on December 18, 2026; an up-to-date official Secret Wars release date is not established by the sources cited here.
How the three titles fit together
Marvel announced two Avengers movies in 2022: Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, the fifth installment, and Avengers: Secret Wars, the separate film that would follow it. In 2024, Marvel presented the upcoming films as Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, and named Anthony and Joe Russo as directors of both. That announcement makes clear that Doomsday took the place of The Kang Dynasty as the fifth film’s title; it did not replace Secret Wars. Why older dates appear online
The dates changed across successive announcements. Marvel’s original 2022 slate gave The Kang Dynasty a May 2, 2025 date and Secret Wars a November 7, 2025 date. In 2023, Marvel moved them to May 1, 2026, and May 7, 2027, respectively. Marvel’s 2024 presentation then used the titles Doomsday and Secret Wars and reported dates that have since changed. Treat those earlier dates as schedule history rather than current listings. 2022 slate · 2023 update · 2024 presentation report.

The announcements establish the films’ title sequence and, in the case of Doomsday, the current U.S. date on Disney’s listing. They do not provide a basis here for a detailed comparison of either film’s plot, or for treating a particular Secret Wars comic as a confirmed film blueprint. Marvel’s announcement connects the title to its publishing history, but that alone does not confirm which story or edition the movie will adapt.
