For an MCU movie marathon in story order, start with Captain America: The First Avenger, then watch Captain Marvel and continue through the list below. Story order means arranging films by when their events happen in the MCU, not by when they were released. This movie-only sequence follows Hulu’s August 22, 2025 canon timeline where possible, with two transparent additions: Spider-Man: No Way Home and Thunderbolts*.
Story order or release order: which should you choose?

Why do some films have unusual positions?
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is an early timeline exception
Hulu places The Fantastic Four: First Steps third, after Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain Marvel. Disney describes its setting as a “1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world.” Its early place in this list reflects that setting and its multiverse-era context; it is not simply another origin story in the main sequence.
Spider-Man: No Way Home follows Far From Home
Hulu’s August 2025 timeline does not list Spider-Man: No Way Home. This guide inserts it after Spider-Man: Far From Home as a direct continuation, rather than treating the omission as evidence for a different story placement. Streaming availability for Spider-Man films varies by territory and can change.

Thunderbolts* is an editorial continuation
The consulted Hulu story-order list does not include Thunderbolts*, although its guide lists the film in its release and phase section. It appears here after Captain America: Brave New World as a practical continuation of the newer film sequence, not as a placement confirmed by Hulu’s published chronology.
Deadpool & Wolverine stays late in the sequence
Hulu places Deadpool & Wolverine after Loki season 2 and What If…? season 2, and before several later series and Captain America: Brave New World. In this film-only list it retains that late relative position, ahead of Brave New World.

What this movie-only list leaves out
The fuller MCU timeline interleaves series and specials, including WandaVision, Loki, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Werewolf By Night and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. They are omitted here because this is a movie sequence, not a complete chronology of every MCU title. For a mixed film-and-series viewing order, use the current MCU timeline in Disney+ where available; Marvel announced a Disney+ Timeline Order collection in 2023. Hulu’s chronology is dated August 22, 2025, so it should not be read as an exhaustive October 2026 list. Marvel’s The Marvel Cinematic Universe An Official Timeline book is another companion for readers who want more continuity detail.
