For better performance in Resident Evil Requiem on PC, first choose a realistic resolution and frame-rate target, then establish a stable baseline with ray tracing and path tracing off. Use DLSS or FSR upscaling if needed, and change one visual setting at a time. There is no single best preset for every GPU: the right balance depends on your hardware, VRAM, display, and tolerance for softness, artifacts, or input latency.
Check the PC requirements and understand their targets
The Steam listing names a GeForce GTX 1660 with 6 GB or Radeon RX 5500 XT with 8 GB as the minimum graphics cards, and a GeForce RTX 2060 Super with 8 GB or Radeon RX 6600 with 8 GB as recommended. Steam’s Resident Evil Requiem listing is the reference for those card tiers.
Selects summarizes Capcom’s corresponding targets as upscaled 1080p at 30 FPS from a 640p internal resolution for minimum hardware, and upscaled 1080p at 60 FPS from 720p internal resolution for recommended hardware. These are targets, not guarantees for every scene, and upscaled output is not the same as native 1080p rendering. Both configurations use 16 GB of RAM, according to Selects’ PC guide, updated July 26, 2026.
Capcom’s support FAQ, updated July 22, 2026, cautions that normal operation is not guaranteed with onboard graphics or devices that share graphics memory with system memory. It also warns that laptop GPUs may perform substantially worse than desktop GPUs even when their tier labels look similar. See Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem FAQ.

Set a target before changing graphics options
Decide what you want the game to hold at your display’s output resolution: for example, 1080p/60, 1440p/60, or a higher refresh-rate target. A 1080p target is not interchangeable with 4K, and the GPU model alone does not tell you how a particular scene will perform. If high refresh matters to you, pay attention to frame-time consistency as well as average FPS.
Build a stable baseline, then tune image quality
- Start with advanced lighting disabled. Turn off path tracing and standard ray tracing while establishing baseline performance.
- Choose a sensible preset and test a repeatable area. Use the same location or sequence for comparisons so a change in scene complexity does not look like a setting improvement.
- Enable DLSS or FSR upscaling if native rendering misses your target. Compare the available quality modes first. Move to a more aggressive performance mode only if necessary, and check for softness, shimmer, ghosting, or other reconstruction artifacts.
- Adjust one option at a time. If performance remains short, try lowering internal resolution through the upscaler before reducing every image-quality setting indiscriminately. If the picture looks too soft, try a higher-quality upscaling mode or native rendering if performance permits.
- Check texture quality against your available VRAM. A texture setting that works well on one card may not fit another card’s memory budget.
PCGamesN’s March 2, 2026 settings guide offers one possible starting profile: motion blur off; texture quality Normal; texture filtering High (anisotropic x4); TAA; standard mesh quality; screen-space reflections on; low subsurface scattering; normal volumetric fog, shadows, and ambient occlusion; and contact shadows off. The guide says its settings were tuned on a powerful Ryzen 7 9800X3D and GeForce RTX 5090 system, so treat them as a reference rather than a proven profile for lower-end hardware. Decide whether ray tracing or path tracing is worth the cost
Ray tracing can improve some lighting, shadow, and reflection details, but its cost depends on the hardware and scene. PC Gamer reported 157 FPS with High ray tracing and 77 FPS with path tracing in its described RTX 5090 comparison. Those are results from that reviewer’s specific test, not predictions for other GPUs. The review characterizes path tracing as visually striking but expensive. See PC Gamer’s performance analysis.
NVIDIA announced PC support for path tracing, DLSS Ray Reconstruction, DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation, and Reflex. These are NVIDIA’s feature claims; the options available to you depend on your hardware and the game’s settings. NVIDIA also says, “All GeForce RTX gamers also benefit from NVIDIA Reflex when playing Resident Evil Requiem.” That is a vendor statement, not an independent latency measurement. Use frame generation only if the underlying game already feels playable
Frame generation can make motion appear smoother, but it does not substitute for a sound baseline frame rate. PC Gamer notes that it requires a decent baseline and reports latency or consistency trade-offs in some tested configurations. If input response matters more to you than visual smoothness, a lower but steadier rendered frame rate may feel preferable. Do not assume frame generation will double performance or improve responsiveness on every system.
Compare changes without guessing
After each adjustment, revisit a comparable area and assess both smoothness and noticeable frame-time spikes. When comparing options, consider:

- Output resolution and the upscaler’s internal resolution or mode.
- Average frame rate and frame-time consistency.
- Sharpness, shimmer, ghosting, and other reconstruction artifacts.
- Lighting, shadow, and reflection quality.
- Input latency when frame generation is enabled.
- GPU and VRAM use, particularly when changing textures or advanced lighting.
Published presets are hardware-specific baselines, not universal answers. A meaningful performance comparison should identify the GPU, driver, game version, output resolution, upscaler and mode, ray-tracing mode, and frame-generation setting.

Check your current GPU, target resolution, target frame rate, and budget before shopping. Capcom’s listed graphics tiers are reference points, not blanket upgrade recommendations. Similar-sounding laptop and desktop GPU names do not guarantee similar performance, and replacing a graphics card will not necessarily resolve a CPU limit, driver issue, or every frame-time spike.

For players without a capable local PC, NVIDIA says Resident Evil Requiem can be streamed using GeForce NOW Ultimate to connected devices. Country availability, supported devices, membership terms, and service access vary; check NVIDIA’s current information for your market before relying on cloud play.
