Plan on 16 GB of system RAM and a 650 W-or-higher power supply for an RTX 2080 Ti PC. NVIDIA’s guide lists 8 GB as the system-memory minimum and 16 GB as recommended, and specifies two 8-pin PCIe supplementary power connectors. Check the requirements for your exact card model and the rest of your build before buying.
How much system RAM does an RTX 2080 Ti PC need?
NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 2080 Ti User Guide specifies 8 GB of system memory minimum and 16 GB recommended. For a build centered on this card, 16 GB is the manufacturer-backed capacity to plan around.
The card’s 11 GB of GDDR6 is video memory (VRAM), not the PC’s system RAM. NVIDIA lists the 11 GB VRAM specification separately from its system-memory guidance on its RTX 2080 Ti specifications page. Buying a card with 11 GB of VRAM does not satisfy the computer’s system-RAM requirement.
The guide specifies capacity, not a universally compatible memory generation or RAM kit. Check your motherboard and CPU specifications before choosing memory; the cited RTX 2080 Ti sources do not identify a particular kit.

What power supply does an RTX 2080 Ti need?
NVIDIA’s guide specifies a 650 W or greater system PSU and two 8-pin PCIe supplementary power connectors. Treat that as the documented baseline, then verify that the PSU suits the whole PC and has compatible connectors available. A 650 W label by itself does not confirm the connector arrangement.
NVIDIA’s product specifications list 250 W graphics-card power and a 650 W recommended system power supply. The product page notes that its PSU recommendation is based on a PC configuration and that a pre-built system may need less depending on its configuration. So 650 W is not a precise calculated requirement for every combination of CPU, drives, fans, and overclocking.

Why check the exact RTX 2080 Ti model?
Board-partner versions can differ in power draw and connector requirements. MSI’s official specifications show these two examples:

What to check before buying RAM or a PSU
- RAM: Use 16 GB as the NVIDIA-recommended system-memory capacity, then confirm the kit is compatible with your motherboard and CPU.
- PSU capacity: Start with NVIDIA’s 650 W-or-greater specification, and account for the full system configuration rather than the graphics card alone.
- PSU connectors: Confirm the exact RTX 2080 Ti model’s required PCIe connectors and that the PSU has them natively available.
- Card specification: Check the board partner’s official listing for power draw, connectors, and recommended system PSU before purchasing.
NVIDIA’s user guide provides an original-era specification for this product; its cited materials do not establish a universal RAM target for every modern game workload beyond the stated recommendation.
