Best Deadlock Settings for Visibility, Aim, and Performance

Start with native resolution and your display’s highest refresh rate, then tune Deadlock’s graphics, aim, and crosshair settings against your own frame rate and visibility needs.

There is no single best Deadlock preset for every PC. Start with native resolution, your display’s highest refresh rate, and a clear view; then lower demanding effects only if your frame rate is unstable. Tune one or two options at a time and keep changes only when they improve your own matches.

Start with a clear, stable baseline

  1. Use native resolution and the display’s highest refresh rate. This is a practical starting point for a sharp image and smooth motion. Confirm the refresh rate in your display settings as well as the game, if both offer a choice.
  2. Enable advanced graphics controls if they are available. ProSettings recommends turning V-Sync, bloom, and depth of field off for a competitive-oriented view; it also flags fog as a possible visibility problem. These are third-party recommendations, not Valve guarantees. See the ProSettings Deadlock guide.
  3. Keep render quality at 100 initially. If performance remains inadequate after adjusting costly effects, try an available upscaling option before reducing render quality. Settings and labels can change between patches.
  4. Choose fullscreen or borderless based on your setup. ProSettings reports no performance difference between the two in its guide and suggests choosing according to how often you switch out of the game. A community configuration table recommends fullscreen for its PvP profile, illustrating that advice can differ. Neither establishes a universal performance advantage. View the community configuration reference.

Which graphics settings should you lower for more FPS?

Lower demanding effects when frame rate is unstable, rather than reducing image quality across the board from the outset. ProSettings recommends low screen-space ambient occlusion, distance-field shadows, and fog. It suggests medium shadow quality as a quality/performance balance: shadows can cost performance, but they can also help you locate enemies. Bloom and depth of field may soften or distract from the view, while fog and ambient occlusion can affect both visibility and rendering load.

There is no verified, current benchmark here showing how many frames any one change will add on a particular PC. Make the choice by checking both stability and whether opponents remain easy to read in comparable gameplay.

Set aim and crosshair controls around your comfort

Mouse sensitivity and zoom

Use a sensitivity that lets you make precise adjustments without struggling to turn. Higher sensitivity is not automatically better, and the right value depends on your mouse, play style, and comfort. ProSettings suggests a zoom sensitivity ratio of 1 as a starting point; adjust it if aiming while zoomed feels inconsistent.

  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Field of view

ProSettings prefers a 90-degree camera FOV. Treat that as a value to try, not a universal standard: choose the available FOV that gives you useful awareness without making targets harder for you to track. Check the current game menu because options can change.

Crosshair visibility

Choose a crosshair that stands out against Deadlock’s current scenes without covering the target. A thick crosshair can obscure enemies; one that is too small may disappear during combat. Test its size and color in the environments and effects you actually encounter.

Use accessibility options and video preview

Valve’s City Never Sleeps update describes interface changes intended to improve readability, dedicated accessibility settings for visuals, audio, and controls, and a video-settings preview. The preview briefly makes the settings menu transparent so you can see the effect of a change. Explore the current menus for options that help with readability or control comfort; exact labels and availability may change as the game is updated.

How to tune Deadlock settings with in-game evidence

  1. Check your baseline. Enable Deadlock’s telemetry HUD at Settings > Game > Telemetry and note the frame rate and network conditions. Steam Support documents this HUD as a way to view both. Read Steam Support’s Source2 Telemetry HUD directions.
  2. Change only one or two graphics options. For example, lower a demanding effect if the frame rate is unstable, or turn off a distracting blur-oriented effect if it interferes with target visibility.
  3. Compare similar gameplay. Watch for frame-rate stability and target readability, not just a momentary peak. Also check that the network conditions have not changed enough to confuse the comparison.
  4. Keep or revert the change. Retain it only if it improves your actual experience. This is a practical tuning method, not a controlled benchmark or a promise of a particular FPS gain.

When changing graphics settings is not enough

Steam Support says manually changing a game’s video options may increase FPS, but notes that it does not support that manual process. Its performance troubleshooting material also points players with older or integrated graphics toward launch settings that lower resolution or DirectX level. Consult the official guidance before using those options: Steam Support: Troubleshooting Game Performance Issues — Software. Avoid treating unofficial launch flags, config-file edits, or registry changes shared in anecdotes as generally safe fixes.

Competitive, balanced, or visual-quality priorities

These profiles describe different priorities, not verified presets. The community reference offers PvP, balanced, and visual-quality profiles, while ProSettings makes its own competitive-oriented recommendations. Their disagreement on shadow quality is a useful reminder to test your own trade-off rather than copy a label.

Priority Frame-rate stability Target and background clarity Shadow cues Image and control comfort
Competitive Favor lowering demanding effects if performance is unstable. Favor reducing distracting effects such as bloom or depth of field; check whether fog obscures your view. May reduce shadow quality, but lower shadows can remove cues that help locate enemies. Use a clear crosshair and sensitivity that supports precise aiming; test fullscreen or borderless on your setup.
Balanced Lower only effects that cause instability. Keep settings that preserve useful detail without making targets difficult to read. Medium shadow quality is ProSettings’ suggested compromise, not an official standard. Retain image smoothness and visual detail that matter to you; personalize controls.
Visual quality Accept that retaining more demanding effects may be unsuitable if your frame rate is unstable. Keep effects you find useful or appealing, while checking whether they interfere with target visibility. Retain more shadow detail if it helps you read the scene and performance allows. Prioritize the image presentation and settings that feel comfortable in play.

The profiles are decision guides, not exact value lists: Settings For Games describes its profiles as researched in August 2026 and aggregates other guides, while ProSettings’ guide was last modified March 5, 2026. Neither source establishes a single objectively superior configuration or a controlled performance comparison. Deadlock’s own options and readability features evolve, so check the live menus after updates.
