Its biggest limitation is equally clear: PowerA says it works with Switch 2 only while the console is docked, and it omits rumble and motion controls. That makes it a more natural fit as a spare or casual-play controller than as a do-everything main pad.
What the PowerA Advantage Wired Controller offers
PowerA’s model is SKU NSGP0526-01. It is an officially licensed, wired controller with offset thumbsticks and a detachable 10-foot USB-C cable. Its listed features include Hall Effect thumbstick modules, anti-friction rings, two mappable Advanced Gaming Buttons on the back, a C Button for GameChat access, rear audio controls and a 3.5 mm stereo headset jack. The manual describes controls for headset volume and microphone mute, plus three EQ modes: Standard, Bass Boost and Immersive. The headset itself is not included. Switch 2 compatibility: important limits
On Switch 2, PowerA specifies use only while the console is docked. It is therefore not the right choice if you want to play handheld with this controller connected to the console.

These omissions can rule it out for particular games or features. Check a game’s control requirements before choosing it as your only controller. How it feels, according to reviewers
Hands-on impressions are mixed, and the concerns center on controls rather than the feature list. TechRadar tested the controller for more than two weeks and found the sticks loose-feeling, making fine adjustments difficult in precision-focused play. It also found the textured stick tops uncomfortable during longer sessions. TechRadar’s assessment points toward casual play or spare-controller duty rather than precision play as a main pad. GamesRadar+ found the wired connection, button mapping and responsiveness worked during its testing, but described the sticks as loose and the D-pad and face buttons as heavier than those on the Switch 2 Pro Controller. Nintendo Life notes the offset-stick layout, rear AGL/AGR mapping buttons and headphone jack, as well as the placement of several navigation and system buttons below the D-pad and right stick. That layout is worth considering if you often use system controls mid-game. Nintendo Life review

PowerA Advantage Wired vs. Switch 2 Pro Controller
The trade-off is less about one controller being universally better and more about which functions and feel you need. Independent reviews use the Pro Controller as a point of comparison for control feel; the table summarizes the documented differences without treating reviewer impressions as measured specifications.

Hall Effect sticks, onboard audio controls and a wired connection are the PowerA’s distinguishing practical features in this comparison. Wireless play, rumble, motion support or the control feel preferred by GamesRadar+’s reviewer may matter more to someone choosing a primary controller.

Who should buy it?
It makes sense if
- You mainly play Switch 2 docked and want a wired controller for that setup.
- You want two mappable rear buttons, headset connectivity and audio controls in one pad.
- You are buying a spare or a controller for casual play, and the missing features do not affect your games.
Look elsewhere if
- You need a controller for handheld Switch 2 play or want wireless freedom.
- Your games depend on HD rumble, motion controls, IR camera functions, amiibo NFC or Joy-Con-only input.
- You prioritize precise stick control or are sensitive to the stick and button feel described by reviewers.
