Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Sometimes—but it depends on the game and what you mean by “same outfit.” A cosmetic may unlock for your whole account while the gear itself stays with one character, and a saved outfit template may need to be recreated on each alt. Check the game’s wardrobe, binding, and template rules before transferring an item or buying a cosmetic.
Four different things players mean by outfit sharing
- Appearance unlock: The game records a skin or look in a collection after you obtain an item or cosmetic. Other eligible characters may be able to apply it.
- Outfit or costume unlock: A complete appearance becomes selectable on eligible characters, often without moving the original gear.
- Item transfer: The actual equipment moves between characters. Whether it can depends on its binding status and the game’s storage and transfer rules.
- Saved look or template: A preset combination of skins, dyes, or other appearance choices. Its saved configuration can belong to one character even if the underlying skins are shared.
These systems are separate. Account-wide access to an appearance does not automatically make the physical item transferable, remove equipment restrictions, or copy a character’s saved preset.
How outfit sharing works in specific MMOs
Guild Wars 2
ArenaNet’s 2014 Wardrobe announcement describes cosmetic items being shared across all characters on an account, and says outfits bought through the Gem Store unlock for all characters on that account. That is appearance access, not a promise that every piece of equipment can be moved between characters or that every character can use every skin.
For the item itself, the Guild Wars 2 Wiki’s account-bound explanation distinguishes account-bound equipment, which other account characters can use, from soulbound items restricted to one character. The wiki’s outfit entry also distinguishes a full-body outfit from individual equipment skins.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Fashion Templates add another distinction: ArenaNet’s support explanation says extra template slots unlock account-wide, but the styles and dyes saved in a template remain specific to the character. Sharing the unlocked skins therefore does not necessarily copy a complete saved look to an alt.
World of Warcraft
Blizzard’s Legion pre-expansion notes describe unlocked appearances as account-wide and available for transmogrification by other characters that can equip the item. Blizzard’s Warbands overview describes collection sharing across a Warband within one region, while retaining class and armor eligibility restrictions. The exact scope matters: account-wide and Warband-wide are not interchangeable labels.

The Elder Scrolls Online
Official forum discussions distinguish access to learned motifs and colors from a character’s saved outfit slots. A character may be able to use learned styles to build an outfit without receiving another character’s ready-made saved slot. The distinction appears in the forum threads “Outfit station question” and “Question: Are Outfits Account-wide?”. Because these are forum discussions rather than a current support specification, check the outfit station and slot details in-game if they affect a purchase or plan.

What to check before using the look on an alt
- Find the unlock scope. Check whether the wardrobe or collection says an appearance is account-wide, character-specific, Warband-wide, or otherwise limited.
- Check the item’s binding. Look for account-bound, character-bound or soulbound status, and confirm whether the item can go through a bank or shared inventory. An unlocked skin and a transferable item are different things.
- Confirm the alt is eligible. Class, armor type or weight, race, faction, level, and equipment slot can limit which character can use an appearance.
- Identify what the cosmetic purchase unlocks. It may be a full outfit for eligible characters, a one-character item, or an appearance that must be applied separately to equipment.
- Check saved presets and dyes. Determine whether the complete look is shared or whether each character needs its own template, slot, or configuration.
- Check the application cost. Changing an appearance may consume in-game currency or a cosmetic charge; read the current tooltip or game instructions before applying it.
Why the answer varies between MMOs
Games can share the appearance collection while restricting the equipment that can display it; they can also let characters use the same styles while keeping saved outfit slots separate. A rule established for one title does not settle another game’s system, and rules can vary by edition, platform, region, or patch. Consult that game’s current official documentation and in-game descriptions for the specific character and item.
