As of October 4, 2026, there are no verified GTA 6 graphics or performance settings to choose from. Rockstar lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as platforms, with a scheduled release date of November 19, 2026. Official sources reviewed have not published graphics options, quality or performance modes, resolution or frame-rate targets, or PC system requirements. Any specific “best settings” recommendation before those details and the released game are available would be guesswork.

What is confirmed about GTA 6 settings?

Rockstar’s official information identifies PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as the confirmed platforms. Take-Two announced a scheduled launch of November 19, 2026; as of October 4, 2026, the game has not launched. Rockstar’s GTA VI page and Rockstar Support’s platforms and editions information are the relevant places to check for current details. Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 announcement describes a single-player game for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Rockstar’s product page labels the game “Plays Best On” PlayStation 5. That is a platform label, not a published performance comparison: it does not establish that PS5 runs the game better than Xbox, nor does it specify resolution, frame rate, or graphics settings.

  • No official GTA 6 graphics menu or individual options have been published in the sources reviewed.
  • No quality mode, performance mode, resolution, frame-rate target or cap, VRR support, or upscaling behavior has been officially established.
  • No PC release timing or GTA 6 PC system requirements have been published in the sources reviewed.

How to choose settings once the game is available

For now, there is no evidence-based preset to recommend. After launch, make choices using the actual options and behavior on your platform—not predictions from trailers, rumors, or another game. The right setting will depend on whether you prioritize smoother motion and responsiveness or visual detail, and on what the shipped version lets you adjust.

  1. Identify your platform and version. The confirmed platforms in the official sources are PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Record the platform and game build when comparing settings or published tests.
  2. Decide what matters most to you. If you value smoother motion and response, assess frame rate and input latency. If you value image detail, assess visual effects and image quality. A mode name alone does not show the size of the tradeoff.
  3. Compare like with like. Look for tests that disclose their game build, platform, display, scene, and measurement method. Performance in a demanding scene may differ from performance in a quieter area.
  4. Separate output resolution from rendering resolution. If the game uses upscaling, check whether a stated resolution describes the display output or the image’s internal rendering resolution.
  5. Check stability as well as peak performance. A setting that looks good in a quiet area may behave differently in a demanding scene. Prefer comparisons across representative gameplay rather than a single scene.

These are criteria for evaluating real launch settings, not claims about options GTA 6 currently offers or results from testing.

Should you upgrade a PC for GTA 6?

Not on the basis of GTA 6 requirements: Rockstar’s pages reviewed have not published PC requirements or a PC launch timing. Avoid buying or upgrading hardware based on predicted requirements. Once official specifications are available, compare them against your exact CPU, graphics card, video memory, RAM, operating system, storage, and driver version.

Rockstar’s general PC compatibility guidance explains how to inspect system and display details with the DirectX Diagnostic Tool: search Windows for dxdiag, open it, and review the System and Display tabs. This can help you inventory a PC; it does not establish whether that PC will run GTA 6.

GTA V Enhanced is not a reliable substitute for GTA 6 requirements. Rockstar’s current GTA V Enhanced recommended configuration lists an RTX 3060 or RX 6600 XT, 16 GB of dual-channel RAM, and a DirectStorage-compatible drive. Those are specifications for GTA V Enhanced only—not minimum or recommended specifications for GTA 6. See Rockstar’s GTA V PC system requirements for that separate game.

What to check before relying on a settings guide

  • Does the guide identify the platform and game version it covers?
  • Does it show or describe settings that are actually present in the released game?
  • For performance claims, does it state the scene, display, and measurement method?
  • Does it distinguish output resolution from internal rendering resolution and disclose any upscaling?
  • Does it compare the tradeoffs that matter to you, such as image quality, frame rate, latency, and stability?

Rockstar Support says GTA 6 can be preordered for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar’s store also lists a PS5 Standard Edition and a physical code-in-box option; that box contains a download code and no disc. This describes a retail format, not a graphics or performance product. Check Rockstar’s store listing for current edition details.
