Usually, no. A PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium Game Catalog game stops being playable through the subscription when it leaves the Catalog, even if it is still installed. Monthly games you claimed to your library work differently: they remain available while your membership is active.
What happens when a Catalog game leaves?
Access through PlayStation Plus ends when a Game Catalog or Classics Catalog title is removed. Downloading it does not make it yours: the game remains subject to an eligible active membership and continued availability in the Catalog. PlayStation’s 2022 guide also says downloaded Extra and Premium Catalog games require a PSN connection every seven days to validate membership and maintain access.
Sony does not establish a general grace period after a listed removal date. Catalog titles and announced end dates can vary by time and region, so check the game’s listing in your regional PlayStation Store or the relevant Catalog for its status.
Catalog games and monthly games are not the same
| How you accessed the game | What happens after it leaves the Catalog | Membership condition |
|---|---|---|
| Extra or Premium Game Catalog title | Subscription access ends when the title is removed, even if downloaded. | An eligible active membership is required while the game remains in the Catalog. |
| Monthly game added to your library | It remains available to play as long as your membership is active; this is distinct from a rotating Catalog listing. | An active membership is required. |
Sony’s US PlayStation Plus FAQ says monthly games can be added to the library and played while the membership is active, and separately warns that some Catalog games have end dates. A game’s presence in the Catalog should not be mistaken for a monthly claim, or vice versa.

Can you get access back, and what happens to your save?
If the game is available for separate purchase in your region, buying it can restore access outside the Catalog. Sony says you can access the saved progress again if the save data has not been deleted. The game must actually be available to buy; Sony does not promise every departing Catalog title will remain on sale. Check its regional store listing before relying on a purchase as a way to keep playing.
What happens to DLC and add-ons?
Associated DLC and add-ons become inaccessible when the base game leaves the service. Sony says previously purchased add-ons can be used again after you resubscribe or buy the game. That does not preserve access to the base game while it is absent from the Catalog.

How to check your situation
- Identify the access source. Check whether you claimed the title as a monthly game or downloaded it from the Extra/Premium Catalog.
- Check the game’s regional listing. Look for an announced end date or removal notice in the Catalog or PlayStation Store. The lineup and dates can differ by region.
- Check for a separate purchase option. If the title is still sold in your region, purchasing it may restore game and save access, assuming the save data still exists.
- Check membership status. Monthly games and Catalog access both require an active eligible membership; Catalog access also depends on the game remaining listed.
For general console access and download or streaming steps, see PlayStation’s support guide to the PS Plus Game Catalog. Streaming availability can depend on tier, region, and title, so it is not a universal workaround for a removed game.
