There is no single physical-release answer for the entire Final Fantasy VII series. Availability depends on the exact game, platform, edition and region. Check the publisher’s edition information for the format, then check a retailer’s regional listing for current stock and shipping. A platform launch announcement alone does not confirm that a physical edition exists.
How to verify a physical edition
- Identify the exact game and edition. “Final Fantasy VII” can mean several different games or releases. Include the subtitle—such as REMAKE INTERGRADE or REBIRTH—and note whether you mean Standard, Deluxe or another edition.
- Choose the platform. A game can be physical on one platform and digital-only on another. Check the format for the platform you intend to play on.
- Look for format wording from Square Enix. Check the official product, edition or support information for terms such as “physical,” “disc,” “cartridge” or “digital only.” Confirm the wording applies to the specific platform and edition, rather than assuming it covers every version.
- Verify the regional retail listing. Confirm that the listing is for your region and platform, and check its stock and shipping status. A publisher’s statement that an edition is physical does not mean a retailer currently has it available.
- Check again for upcoming releases. A future product page describes a planned release, not a guarantee that its date or details will remain unchanged. Revisit the official listing before buying.

What to compare before ordering
Once you find a physical listing, compare the details that determine whether it is the copy you actually want:
- Included game or games: Check whether the package is a single title or a bundle such as the Twin Pack.
- Platform: Make sure the listing names your console or system; a physical console edition does not establish a physical PC version.
- Format and edition tier: Distinguish physical from digital-only, and Standard from Deluxe or other editions.
- Contents: Check which physical extras are specifically listed for that edition. Do not assume that a physical game package means all game data is on the disc; the cited edition information does not establish that.
- Region and language: Confirm the listing is intended for your market and that its language information suits you.
- Availability: Check current stock and shipping directly with the retailer, separately from the publisher’s format information.
Why an announcement may not settle the format question
Square Enix announced that FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH was available on PlayStation 5 on February 29, 2024. That confirms the platform launch, but a launch announcement by itself does not establish whether a particular edition is physical. For format, rely on edition-specific information; for whether you can order it now, rely on the current regional retailer listing.
