A Pokémon you already caught is an entry in your inventory; it is different from the event encounter or feature that made it available. The official sources reviewed do not say that an already-caught Pokémon disappears when an event ends. What can end are opportunities to encounter it, Collection Challenges, special move windows, passes, and event items. Check the specific event’s announcement and in-game details for its timing and rules.
Do event Pokémon disappear after you catch them?
Official inventory-search help identifies costume-wearing Pokémon as “Special Event Pokémon” and explains how to find them with the search term costume (Pokémon GO Help Center: Searching & Filtering your Pokémon Inventory). That treats a caught costume Pokémon as an inventory entry, rather than as a temporary encounter.

The official pages reviewed do not make a universal statement covering every kind of event-associated Pokémon or form. For the practical question “Do event Pokémon disappear?”, distinguish the Pokémon already in your storage from the event feature that introduced it; check event-specific terms if you are concerned about a particular variant.
Can you still catch an event Pokémon after the event?
Not necessarily. An event ending can close the particular route that made a Pokémon available. Some Pokémon in Collection Challenges can be obtained only through research task rewards or Raid Battles, rather than as ordinary wild spawns (Pokémon GO Help Center: What Are Collection Challenges?).

Shiny availability can also be event-specific. The Help Center says that some Pokémon, including Smeargle, Unown, and Meltan, cannot be encountered as shiny outside specific events, and directs players to official event updates for availability (Pokémon GO Help Center: What are Shiny Pokémon?). That does not establish when any particular Pokémon or shiny variant will return. Use the announcement for the event in question to confirm its dates, region, and encounter method.
What happens to the Collection Challenge?
A Collection Challenge usually disappears when its corresponding event ends. The Pokémon GO Help Center advises players to collect the challenge Pokémon before then and says the challenge’s instructions specify whether each Pokémon must be caught, hatched, evolved, or traded; some may come only from research or raids (What Are Collection Challenges?).
So if you are asking “What happens to the Collection Challenge?”, follow the method shown for each entry and finish before the event’s stated end time. Having caught a Pokémon may not complete an entry if the challenge requires another acquisition method.

- This also comes with 1 Pokémon coin.
- You will also receive 3 Pokémon TCG booster packs.

Can an event move still be learned afterward?
Community Day has a specific post-event window: the featured Pokémon can learn its exclusive attack by evolving during the event or up to five hours after it ends. The Help Center says the attack is added to the Elite TM afterward (Pokémon GO Help Center: What are Community Days?).
This is a Community Day rule, not a universal deadline for every event move. Check the current event announcement before deciding when to evolve a Pokémon or use an Elite TM.
Do event passes, rewards, and items expire?
Temporary event resources can have their own end rules, separate from the Pokémon themselves.
Quick Recap
- GO Pass or Adventure Pass: The Help Center says a pass is available for a set duration and is no longer available when it ends; unclaimed rewards expire. A grace period may apply, and the duration can vary by circumstance (What is the Adventure Pass?).
- Event-specific items: For GO Wild Area: Global, GO Safari Balls were usable only during event hours and became inaccessible from inventory after the event concluded (Pokémon GO: GO Wild Area). This example applies to that event’s item; it is not a rule for every event item.
What to check before an event ends
- Open the official event announcement or in-game event details and confirm the end time for your event and region.
- For a Pokémon you have not caught, check whether it is available in the wild, through research, in raids, or by another method—and whether shiny availability is limited to the event.
- Read each Collection Challenge entry for its required acquisition method and complete it before the challenge ends.
- If you are aiming for a Community Day exclusive attack, evolve within that event’s stated window.
- Claim pass rewards and use time-limited items before their stated deadlines.
