That longer window was a dataminer forecast, not an official Epic estimate, and the report did not establish when servers ultimately returned.
Was Fortnite still down during the v36.20 update?
As of Beebom’s report, updated July 15, 2025, Fortnite servers had been down for more than six hours while Epic carried out maintenance for v36.20. This is a historical account of that rollout, not a live server-status update. The report does not establish the eventual restoration time. Beebom’s July 15 report covered the incident as it was unfolding.

Was a 12-hour outage officially confirmed?
No. The 12–15-hour window cited in the report was attributed to dataminers’ expectations. It was not presented as a confirmed Epic estimate, and the report does not verify that the outage lasted that long. The headline’s 12-hour framing should therefore be read as concern about a forecast, not a promised downtime duration.
What did Epic say caused the delay?
Beebom reproduced a statement from Fortnite Status: “Hey everyone, we’re extending downtime while we work to resolve an issue discovered during offline checks. We’ll do our best to get Fortnite servers online ASAP. Keep an eye on this thread for any future updates.” Epic’s public explanation, as quoted in the report, was an issue found during offline checks.

The separate build-number theory
Beebom also reported a community theory from dataminers that the update build number was below v36.10 and would need to be rebuilt or modified. The report does not show Epic confirming that theory, so it should not be treated as the established cause of the delay.
What was v36.20 expected to add?
The report said the update was expected to bring content to Battle Royale, OG, Reload, and Blitz Royale. It did not establish the full contents of the update or connect any particular feature to the downtime issue.

Where to check for an update on an outage
For the status of the incident at the time, Beebom directed readers to Fortnite Status and Epic’s website. Because its report was a developing story, it does not establish a final outage duration, restoration time, compensation, or a later Epic explanation.
