Yes. Sony currently lists PayPal as an accepted payment method for the U.S. PlayStation Store. You can add it through your account’s Payment Management settings and choose it at checkout. Sony’s current page confirms availability, but does not establish when PayPal first became available in the United States.
Which payment methods does the U.S. PlayStation Store accept?
Sony’s U.S. payment-method page lists PayPal, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Venmo, Apple Pay, and Cash App Pay. The list describes PlayStation Store payment options; it does not guarantee that every account or transaction will work with every listed service. Availability can vary by country or region. See PlayStation Support’s current accepted-payment list for the latest details.

PayPal checkout and wallet funding are different
You can use a saved payment method for eligible PlayStation Store purchases. Adding money to your PlayStation Store wallet is a separate step. For online wallet funding, Sony’s route is: sign in to PlayStation Store, open the profile menu, select Payment Management > Add Funds, choose a payment method and amount, then confirm.
On supported consoles, the wallet-funding paths are:

- PS5: Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Add Funds.
- PS4: Settings > Account Management > Account Information > Wallet > Add Funds.
Sony says wallet balance is used first when you make a purchase; another payment method can cover any remaining amount. An eligible payment method or a PlayStation Store gift card can be used to add funds. A gift card is an alternative wallet-funding route, not a requirement for using PayPal. Sony notes that wallet funds are generally non-refundable and non-transferable except where the law requires; this describes PlayStation wallet funds, not PayPal’s own refund rules. Details are in Sony’s wallet funding guide and U.S. Terms of Service.
Can you pay with PayPal on PS3 or PS Vita?
No—not directly through the PS3 or PS Vita Store interface. Since October 27, 2021, Sony has not allowed direct card or PayPal payments or wallet funding on those devices. You can add wallet funds through a browser, mobile device, PS4, or PS5, then use the wallet balance for eligible purchases on PS3 or PS Vita. Sony documents the restriction in its important notices.

What if PayPal will not link or a payment fails?
Check that your account’s Store region and payment details are compatible. Sony warns that card details associated with a country different from the account’s Store region may not link; alternative methods vary by region. That warning concerns card-region compatibility and does not establish that every PayPal account or transaction will succeed. For account-specific problems, consult Sony’s payment troubleshooting guide or the relevant payment provider.

Sony’s current U.S. support page shows PayPal on the accepted-payment list, but it does not give a launch date. The available official information therefore confirms that PayPal is listed now, not when it first became available or whether the listing reflects a recent change.
