Trobbio is an optional Act 2 boss in Hollow Knight: Silksong, found at The Stage between Choral Chambers and the Whispering Vaults. You can reach the Vaultkeeper’s Melody without defeating him, but beating him earns the Claw Mirror Tool and Psalm Scroll and unlocks a separate Act 3 encounter.
Where to find Trobbio
Trobbio waits at The Stage, between Choral Chambers and the Whispering Vaults. The arena is accessed from the west side of the Whispering Vaults, according to Nintendo Life’s boss guide.
He is an optional Act 2 fight: the Vaultkeeper’s Melody can be reached without defeating him. “Optional” applies to ordinary progression; players seeking his rewards or the later encounter will want to take him on.
How Trobbio’s fight works
Trobbio’s documented attacks include Flying Leap, Flutter, and Floorboard Shuffle, along with whirlwinds, fireworks, and smoke or bomb hazards. A community-edited boss reference describes him moving beneath the stage during Floorboard Shuffle, where he cannot be hit; rattling boards indicate where he is.

Read the tells and wait out the floorboard attack
- When he leaps or flutters, focus on avoiding the attack’s path rather than trying to strike through it.
- When the floorboards rattle, track his position and avoid wasting attacks while he is below the stage. Resume offense once he reappears.
- Whirlwinds, fireworks, and smoke or bomb hazards call for space and careful timing. Prioritize avoiding the hazard, then use the recovery after an attack to look for a safe opening.
These tips follow the documented move descriptions; the cited references do not establish exact timing windows or a guaranteed attack sequence.
