No Windows games are documented as running on PS5 through Proton in the official sources reviewed. Proton is Valve’s compatibility layer for running Windows games on Linux through Steam Play; Valve’s compatibility ratings apply to Steam Deck, not PS5. For a PS5 game, check PlayStation’s supported games and services. For a Windows game on a Linux device such as Steam Deck, use the Steam listing, Valve’s rating, and recent community reports.
Does Proton run Windows games on PS5?
Valve describes Proton as a way to run Windows games on Linux through Steam. Its official compatibility-checking program covers Steam Deck, while PlayStation’s PC support information concerns PlayStation gaming on PC—not Proton on PS5. The reviewed official sources therefore establish no supported PS5 Proton method and no list of Windows games compatible with PS5 through Proton.
This distinction is about documented support. The available sources do not assess every unofficial or modified-console setup, so they do not establish what might be possible in every such case.
How to check whether a game works on the platform you have
If you have a PS5
Check PlayStation’s information for the game and the relevant PlayStation service or platform. A Windows-game listing or a Proton rating is not evidence that the game runs on PS5. PlayStation’s PC support information discusses PlayStation gaming on PC; it does not document Proton support on PS5.

If you have a Steam Deck or another Linux system
- Confirm the device and operating system. Proton is relevant to Linux systems running games through Steam; Valve’s official compatibility ratings discussed here are for Steam Deck, not PS5.
- Check the game’s Steam page or Steam library. Valve provides compatibility details for reviewed titles, and Steam Deck ratings appear in the library. A rating is a starting point for a Deck-specific check, not a PS5 result. See Valve’s Steam Deck compatibility information.
- Look up recent community reports. Search for the specific game on ProtonDB and read reports for relevant configuration steps and the device or setup used. ProtonDB is community-sourced Linux and Steam Deck compatibility information, not an official certification or PS5 compatibility list.
- Compare requirements with your device. Steam Support advises checking both hardware requirements and supported operating systems. A game may fail to run well—or at all—even if its operating system is compatible with Proton. See Steam Support’s guidance on system requirements.
- Check the details behind the rating and reports. Compatibility means more than launching. Valve’s review criteria include middleware and anti-cheat behavior, and its Deck reviews are updated as games, updates, and device features change. Favor recent reports that match your game version and configuration.
What a compatibility check can—and cannot—tell you
On Steam Deck, Valve’s rating and Steam’s game-specific details provide an official reference for reviewed titles. ProtonDB adds user experiences and setup notes, but its reports are not guarantees. Hardware requirements, operating-system support, game updates, anti-cheat, and other middleware can all affect the outcome. Check those factors for the exact Linux device and game setup you intend to use.
None of these checks transfers a compatibility result to PS5. A game that works through Proton on Linux is not thereby a PS5 game, and a Steam Deck rating is not a PlayStation certification.
