They cover different positions and signing profiles, but this is an editorial shortlist—not an official or universally correct ranking. Player presence, ability, price and availability can differ by database and save, so check each prospect in your active game before making an offer.
How this FM26 wonderkid shortlist is selected
There is no single in-game definition of “wonderkid” or authoritative top ten. This selection balances high potential with current usefulness, tactical flexibility, varied cost profiles and a plausible route to playing time. The order is not a claim that one player is objectively better than every player below him.
For a useful dated baseline, FM Scout’s revision 4 list is for database 26.3 and was updated on 15 June 2026. It counts approximately 940 players under its own criteria: age 20 or younger on the in-game date of 7 July 2025 and generally potential ability (PA) of at least 150. That is FM Scout’s classification, not an official Sports Interactive count or ranking. Its guide also notes that many players have ranged potential. A role-based shortlist reported as rechecked after updates 26.3.1 and 26.3.2 on 27 September 2026 provides a later reference point, but it does not establish a comparable top-ten ranking. Use the recommendations as scouting leads. Database version, loaded leagues, hidden attributes, injuries, coaching, personality and playing time can all affect what appears in a save and how a player develops. A March 2026 ranking’s ability and price figures, for example, belong to its January-update database snapshot; they should not be treated as live values in another save. (Football Manager Blog)
10 FM26 wonderkids worth scouting
1. Lamine Yamal — winger
Yamal is the standout attacking prospect if your save makes him attainable: the January-update ranking from Football Manager Blog places him first and reports a CA of 175, PA of 194 and estimated asking price of £270 million. Those are that publisher’s game-snapshot figures, not guaranteed current ratings or a dependable fee in every save. Treat him as a premium target, not a realistic purchase for every club. 2. Pau Cubarsí — centre-back
Cubarsí gives the shortlist a high-ceiling defensive option. Football Manager Blog’s January-update snapshot lists CA 153, PA 186 and an estimated £87 million asking price. That estimate is database-specific; scout him and check his actual availability and asking price before building a budget around it. (Football Manager Blog)

3. Rodrigo Mora — attacking midfielder or left winger
Mora offers an option between the lines or from the left, according to FourFourTwo’s March 2026 guide. The article cites a £60 million release clause, a figure to verify in the active save rather than assume applies across versions. His positional range makes him worth comparing with the role your squad actually needs. (FourFourTwo)
4. Kenan Yıldız — forward or wide attacker
Yıldız is included as an attacking alternative to the headline names at the very top of the January-update ranking, where Football Manager Blog places him fourth. The source’s ordering is its own editorial ranking, not an official FM26 order; assess his role fit and cost in your save rather than assuming the rank predicts the best signing for your squad. 5. Endrick — striker
Endrick appears among Football Manager Blog’s top five in its January-update ranking and is also in FootyMeta’s later role-based scouting queue. That makes him a useful striker to investigate, not a promise that he will be available, affordable or present with identical attributes in every database. (Football Manager Blog; FootyMeta)
6. Ayyoub Bouaddi — midfielder
Bouaddi is one of FourFourTwo’s named recommendations. The guide’s heading spells his surname “Boaddi,” while the entry copy uses “Bouaddi”; search by the player’s full name in your database if a spelling variation makes him difficult to find. Consider him against your midfield role requirements, not simply as a high-potential name. (FourFourTwo)

7. Ethan Nwaneri — attacking midfielder or winger
Nwaneri is another FourFourTwo suggestion and adds a flexible attacking option to a shortlist otherwise weighted toward marquee targets. Whether he is a first-team solution or a longer-term signing depends on your squad, the report in your save and how much playing time you can offer. (FourFourTwo)
8. Abdellah Ouazane — midfielder
Ouazane appears among FourFourTwo’s ten suggested FM26 wonderkids. The cited guide offers editorial recommendations rather than a common, comparable table of ability, fees and availability for every player, so use the recommendation to begin scouting rather than as a guarantee of value. 9. Saba Kharebashvili — defender
Kharebashvili is a defensive prospect named by FourFourTwo. His inclusion broadens the shortlist beyond forwards and attacking midfielders; verify the exact position, role fit and registration situation in your save before deciding whether he fills a real squad need. (FourFourTwo)
10. Marc Bernal — midfielder
Bernal is in FootyMeta’s role-based queue, which was reported as checked after the 26.3.1 and 26.3.2 updates on 27 September 2026. That later check makes him a useful name to investigate against the earlier-published recommendations, but does not establish that he is the tenth-best player or a guaranteed fit in every save. A high ceiling matters less if the player cannot get minutes or does not solve a tactical need. Start by defining the job, then use scouting to test whether the prospect suits it.
- Set the recruitment brief. Specify position, role, age, desired squad role and expected playing time. Sports Interactive’s youth-recruitment guidance describes defining requirements and using TransferRoom suggestions, which can surface players’ playing-time expectations. (Football Manager)
- Scout a range, not a magic number. FM Scout notes that potential ability may be represented by ranges such as -8, -85, -9, -95 or -10, and the realized potential can vary between saves. Ask scouts to assess both current and potential ability; the official guide also points to broad world knowledge and adaptability as useful qualities in scouting staff. (FM Scout; Football Manager)
- Check the deal in your active save. Review availability, transfer and wage demands, injury context, registration rules and work-permit risk before offering. A fee cited by a guide is not a universal price.
- Plan the pathway before signing. Decide whether the player will compete for first-team minutes, develop in the squad or need a loan. A credible training and playing-time route can be more valuable than chasing the largest potential figure.
Developing prospects after they arrive
Recruitment is only one part of youth development. Football Manager’s youth-intake guide says some quality is random, while identifying Youth Facilities, Junior Coaching, Youth Recruitment, staff and personality as factors managers can influence. It recommends seeking board improvements to the relevant facilities and recruitment where appropriate; national Youth Rating and Game Importance are fixed hidden values in the guide’s account.
