Don’t dismantle or sell replaced gear automatically. Check the item’s tooltip and available actions first, then rule out combat, upgrade, collection, appearance, crafting, and alternate-character uses. If its purpose is unclear, keep one copy until you can confirm what it does.
Why there isn’t one universal answer yet
AION 2’s official global site lists October 5, 2026 as its launch date, but that date does not confirm how gear cleanup works in the live game. The official global pages reviewed do not establish universal rules for selling or extracting gear, including eligibility, costs, or rewards. Those details may depend on the item, client version, or region.
Unofficial guides describe Item Extraction as an alternative to selling, with upgrade materials and a cosmetic skin among the reported rewards. Another guide describes Substance Morph, Gear Transfer, and recycling duplicate dungeon gear into materials. These accounts differ in scope and detail, and the official pages reviewed do not confirm their yields or which global items qualify. Treat them as leads to check in your client, not guaranteed outcomes. See the VGC guide and the AllThingsHow guide.
Check an item before clearing it
- Read its tooltip. Identify the item and check its binding status and which actions the game currently allows.
- Compare its combat value. Consider your current equipment, another build, and any alternate character that could use it.
- Check for other uses. The item may matter for an upgrade, collection, appearance unlock, or crafting. If you cannot tell whether it has one of these uses, retain one copy while you investigate.
- Inspect any recycling option. If the client offers extraction or another recycling action, read the confirmation panel for the actual costs and rewards before proceeding.
- Sell only when eligible and surplus. Sell it only if the client permits the sale and you have ruled out useful alternatives.
This checklist follows the AION 2 gear guide, which recommends checking combat value, binding, collections, appearance, crafting, upgrades, and alternate-character use before disposing of an item.

How to choose between keeping, extracting, and selling

Also consider whether you can reacquire the item and whether the action is reversible. The reviewed sources do not establish a general recovery rule, so do not assume a sale or extraction can be undone.
What remains uncertain in the live game
The reviewed sources do not establish a complete current rule for vendor sales, market listings, player trading, rarity or binding restrictions, or extraction fees. They also do not settle whether the systems described by unofficial guides apply to every item, region, or version of the global client. Use the item’s own action menu and confirmation panel as the deciding evidence for the gear in your inventory.
