To find out whether a sci-fi stealth game will run on your PC, compare your computer with that exact game’s official PC system requirements. Check the operating system, CPU, graphics card and video memory (VRAM), system RAM, DirectX, and free storage one by one. Meeting the minimum requirements means your PC meets the publisher’s stated baseline; it does not guarantee a particular frame rate or graphics setting.
Why the exact game matters
There is no universal hardware threshold for sci-fi stealth games. Games in the genre can have very different requirements, so use the current official store or publisher listing for the specific game and PC version you plan to play. Requirements are product specifications and may change; don’t assume an old listing or a console version describes the PC version.
For example, Steam lists Alien: Isolation with a minimum of Windows 7 64-bit, 4 GB RAM, a 2 GB graphics card such as an AMD Radeon R9 200 Series or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660, DirectX 11, and 35 GB of storage. Its listing says each element must match or exceed the requirement.
Steam’s Aliens: Dark Descent minimum calls for Windows 10 or 11, an AMD FX-6300 or Intel Core i3-6100, 8 GB RAM, a 3 GB graphics card such as a Radeon R9 380 or GeForce GTX 960, DirectX 12, and 60 GB of storage. The recommended tier raises the memory requirement to 16 GB RAM and the graphics-card memory to 6 GB. The listing associates minimum with 30 FPS at 1920×1080 on low and recommended with 60 FPS at 1920×1080 on epic; these are the publisher’s stated targets, not independent test results.

- Ready for Upgrades – Designed with tool-less access, easily swap out components, ensuring future-proof performance for years to come.
Older or differently designed games can ask for much less. Steam’s Satellite Reign minimum lists 3 GB RAM and a DirectX 9 graphics card with 1 GB memory. EVERSPACE also separates minimum and recommended CPU, memory, graphics, and DirectX requirements. These examples show why a genre-wide rule—or a guess based on a game’s age or visual style—cannot answer whether your PC meets its requirements.
What to compare on the requirements page
Record the minimum and recommended specifications separately, including any notes about resolution, graphics settings, SSDs, or laptop hardware. Then compare your PC against the same categories:

| Requirement | What to check |
|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows edition and version, plus whether the game requires 64-bit Windows. |
| CPU | The exact processor model, not just its clock speed or the number of cores. |
| Graphics | The exact GPU model and its VRAM. Do not substitute total system RAM for graphics memory. |
| System memory | Installed RAM, separately from VRAM. |
| DirectX | The DirectX requirement stated by the game and the DirectX version reported by Windows. |
| Storage | Required capacity and available space on the drive where the game will be installed. |
Minimum and recommended are different targets, not a simple pass/fail promise. Minimum indicates the publisher’s baseline; recommended is the stronger comparison if you are aiming for the performance tier or settings the listing describes. If the page gives no frame-rate or settings target, don’t infer one from the word “recommended.”
How to check your PC in Windows
- Open the exact game’s official PC listing. Note every requirement and any additional performance or hardware notes. Confirm that the page applies to the PC version and the version you intend to install.
- Check Windows, processor, and system RAM. In Windows 10 or 11, open Settings > System > About. Microsoft says this page shows Windows edition and version, processor, installed RAM, and whether the system is 32-bit or 64-bit. Compare those details with the game’s listing. See Microsoft’s instructions for finding information about your Windows device.
- Check available storage. Open Settings > System > Storage and check the drive where you plan to install the game. Compare its available space—not just the PC’s total drive capacity—with the game’s storage requirement. Microsoft’s device-information guidance is at Find information about your Windows device.
- Check DirectX. Search Start for
dxdiag, open the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, and read the System tab. Microsoft describes DxDiag as a way to report details about DirectX components and drivers; see How to install the latest version of DirectX. The DirectX version shown does not, by itself, establish that your graphics card or driver meets the game’s requirements. - Identify your graphics card and VRAM. Windows’ About page does not provide the full graphics comparison. Identify the installed adapter using your PC or GPU manufacturer’s information, a system diagnostic, or Device Manager, then compare its exact model and VRAM with the listing. On a laptop with integrated and dedicated graphics, check which adapter the game is set to use.
- Compare each item separately. Mark each listed minimum requirement as met or not met. A stronger component does not make up for a different component falling below its listed minimum.
How to interpret the comparison
- Every minimum item matches or exceeds the listing: Your PC meets the published minimum on paper. That is an estimate from specifications, not a hands-on compatibility test or a promise of a particular frame rate.
- Every minimum item matches, but one or more recommended items do not: Your PC meets minimum only. Don’t describe this as meeting recommended or assume a particular quality setting.
- Any listed minimum item falls short: Your PC does not meet the published minimum as listed. Check that you identified the correct hardware and requirement tier, but don’t treat a surplus in RAM or another component as compensation.
- A laptop has more than one graphics adapter: Compare the adapter the game will actually use, rather than assuming the dedicated GPU is selected automatically.
Windows requirements are separate from a game’s requirements. Microsoft notes that Windows 11 system requirements describe what is needed to run Windows 11, not whether a particular game will run well. Passing the Windows check alone does not settle game compatibility.
