There is no verified fix that resolves every Wuthering Waves fatal error. If you play on PC, Kuro Games’ launcher FAQ recommends checking system requirements, trying compatibility mode for the launcher when its stated symptoms apply, updating graphics drivers, and repairing game files. Start by noting exactly when the crash happens and the full error message; those details help you choose the right steps and give support useful information if the problem continues.
First identify when and where the crash happens
“Fatal error” does not identify a single cause. Before changing settings, note the details below so you can follow the relevant branch rather than assume every crash has the same fix.
- When it happens: before the login or title screen, while loading, or during play.
- Exact message: copy the full error text or code, including any reference to Unreal Engine or a D3D device.
- Platform and version: record whether you play on PC, Android, iOS, Mac, PS5, or Xbox, and which game version is installed.
- Recent changes: note whether the problem began after a game update, graphics-driver update, or settings change.
Use the PC launcher steps below only for a PC installation. For other platforms, follow that platform’s official update and support route.
Try the official PC launcher troubleshooting sequence
Kuro Games’ launcher FAQ addresses launch and launcher-related problems. Its suggestions are steps to try, not a guarantee that every fatal error will be fixed.

- Check the requirements for your platform and game version. Compare your PC with the requirements published for the relevant version; an older notice may not describe current requirements.
- Try compatibility mode for
launcher.exeif the FAQ’s symptoms match. This is relevant to the FAQ’s black- or white-screen and not-responding scenario, not automatically to every in-game crash. - Update your graphics driver. Then restart the game and use the official launcher’s Repair function to check and repair files.
- If repair completes but the crash remains, restart the computer and run Repair again. The FAQ specifically recommends trying repair once more after a restart.
- If the game still crashes, contact Kuro Games support. Include the exact error, platform, basic hardware details, when the crash occurs, and the troubleshooting steps you already tried.
The FAQ also mentions antivirus or firewall allowlisting for its specific black- or white-screen case. Treat that as a narrow suggestion for a matching symptom; do not disable antivirus protection broadly.
Use published PC requirements as version-specific context
Kuro Games’ version 2.7 update notice from 2025 listed these minimum PC requirements. They are tied to that notice and should not be treated as a definitive statement of current requirements.

If your hardware falls below requirements currently published for your platform and game version, that is relevant context to share with support. A crash by itself does not establish that you need to replace a component.
If the error mentions a D3D device or graphics crash
Epic’s Unreal Engine GPU crash documentation explains that GPU memory exhaustion can cause crashes in engine projects generally. That is diagnostic context, not confirmation that GPU memory caused a particular Wuthering Waves crash. Capture the exact message and share it with game support before making risky system changes or buying hardware.

Use the correct update path outside PC
Kuro Games’ version 3.6 maintenance notice describes client update paths across PC, Android, iOS, Mac, PS5, and Xbox. If you crash on a platform other than PC, use the current official update instructions and support path for that platform; the launcher Repair and launcher.exe steps above do not apply universally.
Contact official support with useful details
The Kuro Games support page on the Epic Games Store lists the English support email as [email protected]. When you write, include your platform, game version, basic hardware details if you play on PC, the full error text or code, when the crash occurs, recent changes, and the steps you have tried. This gives support a clearer description without assuming a cause from the phrase “fatal error.”
