1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsAs of October 4, 2026, Buffalo’s official depth chart lists DJ Moore/Skyler Bell, Khalil Shakir/Greg Dortch, and Keon Coleman/Joshua Palmer in three generic wide-receiver rows. An independent chart updated October 3 assigns those pairs to specific alignments: Moore/Bell at right receiver, Shakir/Dortch in the slot, and Coleman/Palmer at left receiver. That order is a useful starting point—not a guarantee that the next name will inherit the starter’s targets or duties.
What the current Bills receiver chart says
The official Bills depth chart, checked October 4, 2026, presents three receiver pairs without alignment labels. Ourlads’ independent chart, updated October 3, identifies the alignments as LWR, RWR, and SWR. The same players appear in the same listed order, but the two charts are not identical in the detail they provide.
| Ourlads alignment (Oct. 3, 2026) | First listed | Next listed |
|---|---|---|
| LWR | Keon Coleman | Joshua Palmer |
| RWR | DJ Moore | Skyler Bell |
| SWR | Khalil Shakir | Greg Dortch |
Use the Bills page as the team’s official listed order and Ourlads for this alignment-specific view. Neither chart, on its own, establishes who will receive the most snaps or targets in a particular game.
Roster status is a separate check
Buffalo announced an initial 53-player roster on August 30, 2026, listing Coleman, Moore, Palmer, Shakir, and Bell as its five receivers. The team’s roster page checked October 4 also lists Tyrell Shavers on Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform and shows additional receivers on the practice squad. The initial roster announcement is not a substitute for checking the current roster page and subsequent transactions.

How to evaluate a replacement when a starter is out
- Identify the missing receiver’s job. Check where that player lined up—outside or slot, and on which side—as well as the formations and personnel groups involved. A listed backup may be next in a chart row but still not match every assignment the starter handled.
- Compare role fit, not just chart position. Buffalo’s July 28 training-camp report described Coleman as a physical contested-catch option, Palmer as an intermediate-to-deep threat who relies on speed and route precision, and Bell as a separator capable of threatening all three levels. Those are preseason role descriptions, not proof of current game form. A similar skill set may make for a more direct substitution; a different one could mean the offense adjusts how it uses the receiver group.
- Look for evidence of readiness. Relevant signs include release technique, route precision, command of the playbook, and use in the personnel group the absent starter played. The Bills’ camp report said Coleman had improved his releases and Bell had worked to master the playbook. Treat those as camp context; current practice or game evidence is needed to judge readiness now.
- Measure opportunity with current usage. For a game-specific assessment, compare offensive snaps, routes run, targets or target share, and participation in relevant down-and-distance situations. Use game logs and reliable snap and route data for the weeks in question. The available sources do not establish current numerical snap, route, or target comparisons, so they cannot support a measured usage trend.
- Account for the whole offense. An absence can shift work among multiple receivers and tight ends or change formations. Check the latest injury and inactive information, then look for reports of the actual rotation rather than assuming one player absorbs all of the missing receiver’s work.
What Bills reporting adds—and what it does not
In a July 28, 2026 training-camp article, Bills Insider Chris Brown described DJ Moore as acquired to be the leading outside playmaker and Shakir as expected next in the pecking order after leading the team in receptions and receiving yards the prior season. Brown said Coleman, Palmer, and rookie Bell were competing for the number-three and number-four receiver roles, with different skill sets. This is dated preseason reporting, not a replacement for the October depth chart or game-week usage.
The same Bills article reported that Bell’s final college season produced 101 receptions, almost 1,300 receiving yards, and 13 receiving touchdowns. The yardage figure is approximate, and the statistics are as reported by Buffalo.

Brown also reported Josh Allen’s comment about Coleman: “It’s time to put it all together,” he said. “Potential things I don’t really care to hear them. It’s time for me to just put it out there on the field.” That quotation comes from the Bills’ July 28, 2026 training-camp story; it is context about expectations, not evidence of a current role or a weekly projection.

- Alignment and formation: Can the candidate fill the actual position and personnel-group assignments left open?
- Route and skill fit: Does the player’s documented role suit the routes and type of coverage the offense needs to attack?
- Readiness: Is there recent evidence of reliable releases, route execution, playbook command, or coach-assigned work in that role?
- Opportunity: How many snaps and routes has the player actually received in relevant games or situations?
- Production in comparable chances: What do targets and results show in similar alignments, routes, or down-and-distance situations?
The October charts help with listed order, and the Bills’ camp report gives role descriptions and dated readiness context. They do not supply current snap, route, or target measurements, nor do they identify a replacement for a specific future game. A weekly call therefore requires the latest availability report and relevant game data.
