Walkthroughs for the initial mission name Luke and Ronald as the comrades to send. The assignment progresses while you play elsewhere.
Dispatch the Howling Hill mission
- Open the map. If Howling Hill is missing, change the map filter to All.
- Highlight the Howling Hill camp marker and choose Inspect. Controller prompts vary; walkthroughs cite Y or Triangle. With a mouse and keyboard, inspect or double-click the marker, depending on the interface version.
- Open Missions or Mission List.
- Select Howling Hill Camp Expansion.
- Assign the eligible comrades. Walkthroughs for the initial expansion identify Luke and Ronald.
- Use the on-screen Dispatch command.
You dispatch the mission through the camp’s map inspection menu, not by using a physical mission board at Howling Hill. Shacknews’ walkthrough and VGC’s guide describe the map-menu process.

How long does the mission take?
Allow roughly 17–18 in-game hours: VGC reports 17 hours, while PowerPyx reports 18. These are walkthrough estimates, not an official fixed duration; check the in-game progress indicator for the timing on your save. You can continue other activities while the mission runs. VGC also reports that resting in a camp bed advances time, with each rest capped at 12 hours, so you may need more than one rest. If the mission is missing or gets canceled
The expansion mission is not listed
Check your current main quest progression, then inspect Howling Hill’s mission list again. Mission availability and which comrades are eligible can depend on progression; the available guides do not establish one definitive cause when the mission is absent.

A dispatch is canceled
Pearl Abyss has addressed dispatch cancellation behavior in updates. Version 1.05.00 says dispatch can cancel automatically if a mission can no longer be sustained. Version 1.05.01 fixed a case where ongoing dispatch missions could be canceled without returning spent resources and contribution. Those notes do not say the Howling Hill button sequence changed, but they show that a cancellation can be related to sustainability or a version-specific issue.
