Maiden Academy’s tier list is a broad recommendation, not a universal ranking formula: use its S+ to C bands as a starting point, then choose heroes for the role and synergy your current team needs. The list’s light-and-dark strength rule is only a rule of thumb, and it includes exceptions.
What the Maiden Academy tier list ranks
Pocket Gamer’s Maiden Academy tier list groups heroes into S+, S, A, B, and C. The page says it was updated October 3, 2026, for game version 1.0.23. Treat those placements as that article’s overall recommendations for the listed version—not as an in-game stat or a promise that one hero is best in every battle.
The guide gives light and dark heroes as a general strength rule, but it also notes exceptions. Faction or rarity alone therefore cannot tell you whether a hero suits your lineup. The article discusses individual roles, abilities, and team synergy as well.
Why role and team fit can matter more than tier alone
Compare what a hero contributes with what your lineup lacks: frontline survival or control, damage, healing, revival, or a particular synergy. Some characters cover more than one need, while others benefit from teammates who enable their abilities.

- Talumexus (S+): described as a tank with counterattacks, curse, and taunt—useful traits to consider when the team needs durability or control.
- Yuzhi Wang (S+): described as a damage dealer who can perform especially well with the right lineup, including a dark/curse team.
- Anna Annie (S+): the twins are described as providing tanking and healing, combining frontline support with staying power.
- Milia (S): described as a strong healer who can also revive allies.
- Brand (S): a Warrior described as able to petrify enemies and prioritize enemy Priests.
- Doudou (A): a tank with taunt and counterattack, placed below stronger replacements in the guide.
- Dracula (A): described as benefiting from teammates who support his bleed-based damage.
These are Pocket Gamer’s editorial evaluations; the guide describes its recommendations as following extensive testing, but the placements are not independently validated here. The source does not publish a numerical scoring rubric or a mode-by-mode ranking method.
How to use the tiers when choosing heroes
- Check the tier as a first filter. The guide recommends prioritizing the highest tier available, then the next tier, but tier placement should not override what the lineup needs.
- Identify the missing role. Decide whether your roster most needs tanking or control, damage, healing, revival, or another kind of support. A hero who combines functions may fill a gap more efficiently.
- Check ability conditions and synergy. Yuzhi Wang’s example depends on a compatible dark/curse lineup; Dracula’s bleed damage benefits from teammates that support it. An ability’s value can depend on who is alongside the hero.
- Account for roster development. The official Google Play listing describes summoning and developing heroes through levels, star ratings, skills, and equipment, as well as mixing heroes while learning faction and profession balance. Compare the hero’s fit with the investment and development choices available to your roster; the tier guide does not quantify upgrade costs.
- Recheck the list after game updates. Its stated version is 1.0.23, so do not assume those placements describe later versions.
What the published ranking can—and cannot—tell you
The list provides tier bands, hero-specific evaluations, and examples of role and team synergy. It does not establish a formal ranking formula, mode-specific scores, a testing protocol that readers can reproduce, or independent evidence that one placement produces better results. A tier is an editorial guide, not an objective measure of in-game power.
