Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe most direct way to play the original arcade Mortal Kombat games on current hardware is Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. It includes the arcade versions of Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, Mortal Kombat 3 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, and Atari links to versions for Xbox, Steam, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. Check Atari’s platform links and edition options before choosing a store.
Which games are included?
The word “trilogy” can be confusing here: the arcade set comprises four games when Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 is counted separately. The collection includes these arcade versions:
- Mortal Kombat (1992)
- Mortal Kombat II (1993)
- Mortal Kombat 3 (1995)
- Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (1995)
Digital Eclipse’s announcement also lists selected home and handheld versions, alongside arcade Mortal Kombat 4 and three Game Boy Advance games. These are additional versions and titles, not substitutes for the four arcade games above. See Digital Eclipse’s full version list.
How to get Legacy Kollection on your platform
- Open Atari’s Legacy Kollection page and follow the link for your platform: Xbox, Steam, PlayStation or Nintendo Switch.
- On PlayStation, the store listing specifies PS4 and PS5. It gives October 30, 2025 as the release date. Check the PlayStation Store listing for current local availability and edition details.
- Choose a digital or physical edition if both are offered by the destination store. Atari describes physical editions; availability can vary by platform, region and retailer.
- After launching the collection, choose the arcade version of the game you want. The collection includes other console and handheld versions too, so check the version label rather than assuming every entry is an arcade release.
The US PlayStation Store listing showed $49.99 when checked on October 4, 2026. That is a listing-specific price, not a guaranteed price for other regions, editions, retailers or later dates.

Playing online
Atari advertises online play with rollback netcode. On PlayStation, online play is optional, supports up to two online players, and requires PlayStation Plus. Requirements for other platforms depend on their storefront and online services; check those platform listings before purchasing for online play.
Is the older Arcade Kollection still an option on PC?
Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection is a different, older compilation. Valve’s February 2, 2012 announcement says it contains Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. The announcement is historical and does not establish that the game remains for sale or works on current Windows systems. Check its live Steam listing and current system requirements before relying on it; for a newly released collection with the four arcade games listed above, start with Legacy Kollection. Read Valve’s announcement.

What the available information does—and does not—establish
The official listings establish the games included, platforms linked by Atari, and selected online features. They do not provide a comparative assessment of emulation accuracy, input latency, image quality or performance across systems. There is therefore no sourced basis here to call one platform more faithful or responsive than another.
