What the $199 Meta Quest 2 deal included
HotHardware reported a historical price of $199.99 for the 128GB Quest 2 at Meta and some retail partners, and $199 at Amazon and Walmart. Walmart’s reported offer also included $50 in Meta Quest Store credit, which distinguished it from the other prices in that deal report. The product was the standalone Meta Quest 2 with 128GB of storage. The reported store credit was not a reduction to the headset’s checkout price: its value depended on the offer’s terms and on whether a buyer could use credit in the Meta Quest Store. Why Walmart was called the better deal
On the reported headline prices, Walmart’s $50 store credit made its $199 headset offer more valuable than a $199 headset alone—if the buyer could use the credit under the original terms. It was store credit, not cash back, and should not be counted as a guaranteed $50 saving for every shopper. The historical report does not establish whether the offer had restrictions or whether it can still be redeemed.

Can you still buy a Quest 2 for $199?
There is no verified live offer here. A July 2026 GamesRadar roundup said Quest 2 and Quest Pro were being retired and that reasonable-price stock was becoming harder to find. That is useful context, not confirmation that every retailer has run out or that a particular listing is unavailable.

How to judge a current listing
Before buying, compare the actual offer rather than relying on the old headline price. Check these details on the listing and at checkout:
- Condition: Confirm whether the headset is new, used or refurbished.
- Total price: Check the checkout amount, including any applicable charges, rather than a tracker’s historical low.
- Seller and returns: Verify who is selling the device and what return terms apply.
- Bonus value: Treat store credit or bundle items as useful only if the current offer explicitly includes them and you can meet their redemption terms.
- Fit for your needs: Consider whether the older headset’s capabilities are worth the price compared with a newer model.
