Teams’ reports can change during the day, and a listed status is not a guarantee that a player will—or will not—appear.
Where to find an NBA player’s injury status
Start with the league’s official NBA injury report. Find the player’s team and upcoming game, then read the player’s designation and the listed injury or other reason. The NBA says teams must report injuries, illnesses, other medical conditions, and rest.
The NBA App is another official option if you want updates about a favorite player alongside scores, schedules, news, and game tracking. The NBA Help Center’s app description, updated August 20, 2026, describes favorite-team and favorite-player updates; it does not specifically promise injury-status push notifications. How to keep up as game time approaches
- Open the official report. Locate the player’s team and the game you care about, then note the designation and stated reason.
- Record when you checked. The NBA says reports are updated continually, so an earlier check may not reflect the latest information.
- Check again later, especially near tipoff. Look for a newer entry on the official report rather than treating an earlier status as final.
- Use the NBA App as a supplement. Follow the player there for broader updates, but do not assume that the app will send an injury-specific alert.
What the 2025-26 report deadlines say
The NBA’s 2025-26 injury-report page sets different submission windows depending on the game. These are season-specific policy details; an equivalent 2026-27 deadline page is not established here, so do not assume the times carry over to that season.

These windows explain when teams are required to submit information under the 2025-26 page; they do not mean every player’s status is settled at the deadline. The NBA says reports are updated continually throughout the day.

A report tells you the designation and reason information currently listed by the team. It is a useful official snapshot, not a promise of participation or non-participation. The NBA’s continual-update notice is why a check made earlier in the day should not be treated as the final word on whether a player will appear.

For fantasy basketball, base a decision on the latest report you can access before your lineup deadline, and recheck if there is time. For any fan asking “What is [player]’s injury status?”, include the time of your check when sharing the answer so others know how current it is.
