Cancellation stops the next renewal; it does not normally end access immediately. To move between tiers, use the subscription’s plan-change option instead: a downgrade starts on the next payment date, while an upgrade may charge a prorated amount for the remaining time.

On the web
- Sign in to Account Management.
- Select Subscription from the left menu.
- Choose Cancel Subscription beside PlayStation Plus and follow the prompts.
On PS5
- Open Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Subscriptions.
- Select PlayStation Plus > Cancel Subscription and follow the prompts.
On PS4
- Open PlayStation Plus > Manage Membership > Subscription.
- Select Cancel Subscription and follow the prompts.
Before confirming, check the next payment date or end date displayed for the account. If you change your mind, PlayStation says you can select Reactivate Subscription before the next payment date to keep it active.
What happens when you cancel
Canceling turns off renewal, but PlayStation Plus benefits remain available until the end of the subscription payment period already purchased. The end date shown in the account is the date to rely on; it is not necessarily the day you cancel.

When the membership ends, access to PS Plus benefits—including online multiplayer, online storage, and monthly games—is lost. Monthly games claimed through PS Plus become unavailable while the subscription is inactive. PS Plus packs and avatars already redeemed, along with purchases made at a discount, remain yours.

| Change | When it takes effect | Billing impact |
|---|---|---|
| Downgrade to a lower tier | On the next payment date | The selected lower tier applies at that renewal. Benefits exclusive to the higher tier end when the downgrade takes effect. |
| Upgrade to a higher tier | The upgrade applies before the next payment date | PlayStation may charge a prorated amount for the remaining time. On the next payment date, standard billing resumes at the selected tier and frequency. |
Review the prorated charge and the recurring price shown on the confirmation screen before accepting. Support-page example prices are illustrative and may be outdated, so use the amount displayed for your account.
Canceling is different from requesting a refund
Turning off renewal prevents future subscription payments; it does not refund payments already made. A refund request is a separate process governed by the PlayStation Store policy for your country or region.

For the United States, PlayStation’s subscription cancellation and refund policy says an initial subscription purchase may be canceled and submitted for a refund within 14 days of the initial transaction. The refund may be reduced to account for service use. For a free-trial signup, the 14-day period begins when the trial order is accepted, and trial days count toward that period. These terms are specific to the US policy; check the PlayStation Store policy for your own country or region, or contact PlayStation Support, if you are elsewhere.

- Confirm the next payment date and the date the change will take effect.
- For a downgrade, consider which higher-tier benefits you will lose when it takes effect.
- For an upgrade, review both the displayed prorated charge and the recurring price after the next payment date.
- If you want money back for a recent initial purchase, check regional refund eligibility separately from canceling renewal.
