What does The Witcher 3 Complete Edition include?

The expansions can still be started separately from the main menu, and their achievements or trophies remain unaffected. If you previously owned either expansion, the publisher says its content remains in your library and is patched into the base game. Existing base-game owners can update to install the expansions.

Do not assume a purchase on one storefront or console family grants a copy on another. The free-upgrade statement is limited to the same platform ecosystem. Nintendo Switch owners have the specifically announced Switch-to-Switch 2 claim route; it is not evidence of universal cross-platform ownership.
Does cross progression mean I can switch platforms?
Not by itself. CD PROJEKT RED says save files remain compatible and Cross Progression continues to function as before. Its public information does not enumerate every platform pairing, account state, or transfer procedure, so check the publisher’s My Rewards and Cross Progression page for account context before planning a move. Cross progression and an entitlement to a second copy are separate questions.

What changes in the Remastered edition?
CD PROJEKT RED describes Remastered as including upgraded environment, NPC, and monster textures; improved foliage; reworked lighting, rendering, and ray tracing; revised combat animations, finishers, and camera; and an overhauled skill tree. The feature article also lists transmogrification, immersive meditation, expanded photo mode, and cross-platform mod support. For PC, it specifically cites native DirectX 12 rendering with multithreading. How to avoid buying the wrong copy
- Start with ownership. If you already have the game, look in the library for the update on that same platform or storefront before buying another copy.
- Confirm expansion access. Existing expansion owners should check that the content appears after updating; existing base-game owners should check for the expansion downloads or update.
- Match platform and generation. The Remastered platform list covers PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2; the PS4 and Xbox One expansion offer is a separate legacy-console detail.
- For physical purchases, verify the actual listing. Check region, console generation, seller, and SKU. The publisher acknowledges physical owners for upgrade eligibility, but that alone does not confirm a particular current retail listing’s stock or compatibility.
- If changing platforms, check both issues separately. Confirm whether your saved progress can carry over and whether you have an entitlement to the game on the destination platform; the publisher’s same-ecosystem upgrade terms do not establish a general cross-platform free copy.
