Check the NFL’s official injury report first, and read Practice Status and Game Status as separate fields. Then check the team’s inactive list close to kickoff: a midweek practice entry is not final confirmation that a player will be available.
Where to find the official report
-
Open the NFL’s Latest Injury Report.
-
Select the relevant team or week if needed, then search for the player’s exact name.
-
Read the entries under Practice Status and Game Status separately. The report provides player, injury, practice-status, and game-status fields.
-
Check again near kickoff for the club’s inactive list, which is the late pregame availability confirmation.

What the practice participation labels mean
Practice participation describes how much the player practiced; it does not promise a game-day role or snap count.
-
Did Not Participate: The player did not take part in practice.
-
Limited Participation: The player took fewer than 100% of their normal repetitions.
-
Full Participation: The player took 100% of their normal repetitions.

Read the entries across the week as a trend. A player moving from Did Not Participate to Limited or Full Participation has changed their practice participation, but that change by itself does not determine whether they will be active.
How to interpret Game Status
The NFL’s Injury Report Policy describes the Game Status Report as an account of a player’s anticipated availability for the next game. Its categories are:
-
Questionable: It is uncertain whether the player will play.
-
Doubtful: The player is unlikely to participate.
-
Out: The player will not play.
The old Probable designation was removed. A player listed on a practice report may be absent from the Game Status Report because the club is certain that player will play. Practice participation and game status are team-reported availability information, not a medical diagnosis or a guarantee of workload.

Reporting deadlines depend on the game’s scheduled day. For a Sunday regular-season game in the 2026 schedule, the club files its Game Status Report by Friday at 4 p.m. New York time, or as soon as possible after practice. That Friday deadline does not apply to games scheduled on other days.
Rank #4
The NFL’s 2026–2027 Important Dates calendar sets reporting days around each game’s kickoff day. Clubs file practice reports by 4 p.m. New York time, or as soon as possible after practice, on designated days; the weekly Game Status Report has its own designated filing day. A club must update the report if a player’s condition changes after the initial filing.
Use the latest official update rather than relying on an earlier entry. For the last pregame check, consult the inactive list: NFL game operations says clubs exchange inactive lists at the 90-minute officiating meeting before kickoff, as described in Game and Stadium Prep.

Practice trend: Did participation change across the week?

Game Status: What availability designation, if any, did the club report?
-
Recency: Is there a later official update, including one required after a condition change?
-
Pregame confirmation: Does the inactive list include the player?
These are distinct pieces of information. The NFL reporting categories do not establish a reliable probability that a player with a particular designation will play, so avoid translating a label into a percentage.
