To turn it off, return to that setting and choose Off, Native, or another non-DLSS option. Menu names and available features vary by game. NVIDIA says games with native DLSS support usually provide controls in the game itself, without extra system setup: NVIDIA’s DLSS override guide.
Enable DLSS in the game’s settings
- Launch the game and open Settings or Options.
- Open Graphics, Video, Display, or a section labeled Upscaling. The location varies by title.
- Find the DLSS control and choose the specific feature you want. A game may offer only some DLSS features, not all of them.
- If the game provides modes such as Quality, Balanced, or Performance, select one of its available options.
- Apply the change. Restart or reload the game only if it prompts you to do so.
What to turn off—and what the options mean
Return to the relevant setting and select Off, Native, or another non-DLSS choice, if offered. DLSS is a family of separate features, so switching one off does not necessarily switch off the others. For example, a game may expose Super Resolution and Frame Generation as separate controls.
| Option | What to know |
|---|---|
| DLSS Super Resolution | Scales a lower-resolution input to the output resolution. A game may let you choose a mode such as Quality, Balanced, or Performance. |
| DLSS Frame Generation | A separate frame-generation feature. It may have its own in-game control and can also be relevant to certain NVIDIA app overrides. |
| DLSS Ray Reconstruction | A distinct option that a supported game may expose separately. |
| DLAA | An anti-aliasing option rather than a Super Resolution scaling mode. NVIDIA’s published scaling example lists DLAA at 100% input resolution. |
In NVIDIA’s 2025 example for its DLSS scaling modes, Super Resolution Quality uses 67% input resolution, Performance 50%, and Ultra Performance 33%; DLAA uses 100%. These are example values from NVIDIA’s guidance, not guaranteed values or choices in every game. Use only the modes the title actually offers. NVIDIA’s guide explains the example and DLSS options.
Use an NVIDIA app override instead
The NVIDIA app provides driver-level overrides for compatible games. These controls are separate from a game’s native menu and are not a universal replacement for it. NVIDIA notes that some overrides require the corresponding game feature—such as Super Resolution or Frame Generation—to be enabled in the game first.

- Server-grade Thermal Conductive Gel
- RGB Lighting
- Open the NVIDIA app and select Graphics.
- Choose Global Settings to configure a supported override globally, or open Program Settings and select a game to change it for that title.
- Open Driver Settings and adjust the relevant DLSS Override option, if it is available for that game and hardware.
- Return to the game and confirm that the corresponding in-game feature is enabled when the override requires it.
Override eligibility depends on the feature and hardware. NVIDIA describes Multi Frame Generation override for RTX 50-series GPUs, a Frame Generation model upgrade for RTX 40- and 50-series GPUs, and transformer model upgrades for GeForce RTX GPUs. These requirements apply to the specified overrides; they do not define hardware support for every native DLSS feature. Check NVIDIA’s override guidance for details.

In a game, open Alt+Z > Statistics > Statistics View > DLSS to configure the overlay’s DLSS status display. NVIDIA documents Alt+R as the shortcut to toggle the configured statistics display. This is a way to inspect override status, not a substitute for the game’s own graphics settings. See NVIDIA’s app feature documentation.

If the DLSS setting is missing
- Check the specific feature: A game can support one DLSS technology without exposing every other one. Look for the feature name in the game’s graphics or upscaling menu.
- Check the game and its settings: Menu labels and available options vary by title and engine; consult the game’s own support information if its controls are unclear.
- For an override, check the NVIDIA app: Confirm that the title and desired override are supported and that any required in-game feature is enabled.
- Check requirements: The relevant game, driver, NVIDIA app, and GPU must meet the requirements for that particular feature or override. NVIDIA’s current documentation and release information are the best place to confirm changing compatibility details: NVIDIA app features and DLSS overrides.
