Check any Warcraft preorder against Blizzard’s own announcement before you pay. Confirm the exact edition, contents, region, seller, delivery date, full price and refund terms; a familiar marketplace name, HTTPS padlock or urgent “limited” offer does not prove that a listing or seller is genuine.
Start with Blizzard’s announcement, not the listing
Reach World of Warcraft news or the Blizzard store by typing the address yourself or using a saved bookmark. Don’t follow an unexpected email, chat or social message to what it claims is an announcement. Confirm that Blizzard has actually announced the product, then use that product’s own announcement to check its details. Specifications or preorder terms for one Warcraft release do not automatically apply to another.

For each listing, compare the following against Blizzard’s announcement and the seller’s disclosures:
- Product and edition: Match the full product name and the included physical items and digital content. A similar name does not establish that the listing is for the same edition.
- Territory: Check that the seller ships to your region and that any digital code or edition is suitable there.
- Seller: Identify the party that will actually take payment. On a marketplace, the platform and the individual seller are not necessarily the same. Blizzard naming retailers in general does not validate every marketplace seller.
- Timing and terms: Compare the stated launch or dispatch date, delivery promise, item condition, cancellation policy and refund terms. Read the fine print, not just the headline.
- Total cost: Include shipping, handling and taxes. A surprisingly low price for an expensive branded product can be a warning sign for counterfeit or stolen goods, according to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s online shopping guidance.
Reviews can help, but they are not proof: the FTC warns that ratings and reviews may be fake or misleading. Search the seller or product name with terms such as “complaint” or “scam,” and assess reviews across several sources rather than relying on a single rating.

What Blizzard has confirmed about the Forever Collector’s Edition
Blizzard’s September 24, 2026 announcement is a useful example of how to verify a real product. It describes additional English versions of the World of Warcraft: Forever Collector’s Edition, available for purchase beginning as early as September 24, with timing varying by retailer. Blizzard names the Blizzard Gear Store and retailers in North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
The announcement says restock orders are expected to ship and arrive in February 2027, after the game’s November 4, 2026 launch. Blizzard’s stated limit for orders through the Blizzard Gear Store is one copy per household. The edition includes physical collectibles and a digital code for the Warcraft Forever Collection, with digital contents listed in the announcement. Stock, participating retailers and delivery timing can change, so check the live notice before ordering.

These details verify the announced edition and general distribution, not every offer using its name. The announcement does not establish Amazon availability or authorize any particular marketplace seller. Treat a listing on a marketplace as unverified unless you can independently establish who is selling it and confirm the offer’s terms.
Watch for phishing and Warcraft impersonation
In its September 29, 2026 phishing guidance, Blizzard warns that scammers may pose as Game Masters, support representatives or guild members, and may use supposed beta access or other special offers as bait. Be wary of poor grammar, misleading links, requests for account information, or threats that your account will be penalized or closed. The visible sender name is not reliable proof: return addresses can be spoofed. Inspect a link’s destination without opening it, and do not use an unsolicited account-verification link.

Check in-game identity signals
Blizzard says genuine employee mail carries a Blizzard logo, while genuine Game Master whispers have a blue Blizz tag and appear in a special chat box. A character name containing “[GM]” or Blizzard-like wording is not proof of an employee identity. Blizzard describes using Report Player to report suspicious mail and the Report Player controls to report suspicious chat.
Treat Discord claims as unverified
An official-looking profile picture or branding does not establish that a Discord account works for Blizzard. Blizzard Customer Support representative Vrakthris wrote: “Blizzard employees will never ask for your password or ask you to provide your account credentials through Discord.” Don’t provide credentials or follow links from someone claiming to be Blizzard staff; verify the claim through Blizzard’s own channels.

HTTPS is not an endorsement
HTTPS encrypts information sent between your browser and a website; it does not certify that the seller is genuine, authorized or trustworthy. Scammers can use HTTPS too. A padlock or Blizzard-like web address is not enough to establish that you are on Blizzard’s site.

The FTC says credit-card buyers may have protections in specified cases, including goods that do not arrive or are wrong or defective. Contact your card issuer promptly if you need to dispute a charge. Avoid sellers who insist on gift cards, wire transfers, payment apps or cryptocurrency, which can be difficult to recover once sent. Consumer rights and remedies vary by location, payment method and purchase details.

If you clicked, shared information or paid
If a message or link looks suspicious
Stop interacting with it and don’t enter a password or account details. Blizzard recommends reporting suspicious email as spam to your email provider; suspicious email headers can help identify where a message came from. Use Blizzard’s in-game reporting steps for suspicious mail or chat. Block and report a Discord account as appropriate, then verify any claim independently through Blizzard.
If an order has gone wrong
First try to resolve the issue with the seller or site owner. Keep the order record, seller identity, advertised shipping promise, return policy, correspondence and payment record. The FTC recommends reporting suspected online shopping fraud at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. If a credit-card purchase was not delivered or arrived wrong or defective, contact the card issuer promptly about disputing the charge.
For digital content bought from a third-party retailer, Blizzard’s End User License Agreement directs buyers to that retailer for information about withdrawal options, including for a pre-purchase or preorder. That provision concerns third-party purchases of digital content; it should not be assumed to govern a physical Collector’s Edition or every buyer’s local consumer rights. Direct Blizzard purchases have separate rules that can vary by region and by whether access has begun.
