Build around the heroes you have, not a lineup you have to summon: cover damage, durability, and control or healing, then refine your choices for the stage, elemental matchups, and battlefield placement. A top-tier hero can help, but the available guidance says most heroes can carry early stages when levelled and geared.
Start with the jobs your team needs to do
There is no verified fixed beginner five-hero lineup that works best for every player or mode. Instead, look at the heroes you own and make sure your group can deal damage, absorb pressure, and either disrupt enemies or support allies. If you have a hero who covers more than one job, that can free a slot for another strength.
Summoners Kingdom: Goddess features more than 100 unique heroes, according to its Google Play listing. The listing also highlights elemental combat and strategic battlefield placement. Consider those alongside hero roles: a team is more than a row of high-ranking names.
Use your roster as the starting point
Choose the strongest available damage dealer, a hero who can take pressure, and useful control or healing/support. Then place heroes with their battlefield roles in mind and account for the elements involved in the encounter. The official listing encourages strategic deployment, but it does not establish a single placement formula or universal elemental matchup rule.

Make substitutions by function
If you do not own a highly ranked hero, substitute another hero who fills the same job rather than weakening the rest of the team to chase a name. Cristina Mesesan’s Pocket Gamer tier list, updated September 3, 2026 for version 1.0.53, says most heroes can work through earlier stages when levelled and geared. That is editorial guidance, not a guarantee for every stage.
Which heroes are worth building around?
The September 3, 2026 Pocket Gamer ranking places Wukong, Horus, Raphael, Hippolyta, Valkyrie, and Aphrodite in S+. It is a third-party snapshot for version 1.0.53, not an official developer ranking. The list also places Li Bai, ZiYao, Meownica, Hastur, and Erythnul in S+.

| Hero | What the tier-list article highlights | How that can inform a team |
|---|---|---|
| Wukong | Damage and tankiness, disruption, and damage-dealing clones; the article calls him its best overall hero at update time and notes SP awakening. | Can combine pressure and durability if you have him and can invest in him. |
| Horus | Crowd control and debuffs; the article says he can fit into many teams. | Consider him when you want a control-focused mage alongside your damage source. |
| Valkyrie | Freezing enemies, healing allies, tanking, and some damage. | Her described mix can cover several team needs at once. |
| Raphael, Hippolyta, Aphrodite, Li Bai, ZiYao, Meownica, Hastur, and Erythnul | Included in the article’s S+ tier; role detail varies by hero in the source. | Use their specific abilities and your roster’s gaps to decide whether they fit; an S+ label alone does not establish a best beginner combination. |
The 2024 Pocket Gamer beginner guide recommends prioritizing Wukong, Horus, Raphael, Aphrodite, and Valkyrie when obtained, or choosing from the S tier if those heroes are unavailable. Treat that as the guide author’s advice rather than a game rule; your current roster and needs still matter.
Invest in a focused core instead of upgrading everyone
Spread upgrades across a small group that you actually field. Pocket Gamer’s 2024 guide cautions against upgrading every hero, advises against spending universal shards on heroes you will not use, and notes that some lower-priority investments can be reset. Those are recommendations from that guide, so check the current in-game reset and resource rules before committing scarce materials.

- Progressive Gameplay: Over the course of the campaign, players will face tough choices and unlock new game mechanisms that evolve the game as they progress.

- Interactive Tutorial: A helpful tutorial video guides players through getting started, ensuring that they understand the rules and mechanics before embarking on their journey.
- Choose a core that covers your team’s immediate jobs.
- Put levels and gear into that core before broadening your roster’s investment.
- Use a lower-ranked hero if they are the best available fit; early progress need not wait for S+ summons.
Keep progression moving while your team develops
The 2024 guide recommends completing daily, weekly, and monthly quests, choosing events according to their rewards, and progressing through Adventure stages for resources and summoning keys. It advises reaching at least Chapter 12, then advancing at a pace that reflects the team’s development rather than staying stuck on one stage for too long. Chapter 12 is that guide’s dated target, not a current official requirement.
Spend scarce resources deliberately
The same 2024 guide describes Diamonds as premium currency and advises saving them for exclusive summons after establishing a reasonable early lineup, while keeping Gold for later hero and gear costs. Summon offers and resource priorities can change, so use the underlying principle rather than assuming a particular offer or price is current: avoid spending scarce currency impulsively before you know what your team needs.

Should a beginner reroll?
Rerolling is not a default requirement. The tier-list author describes it as lengthy and unnecessary for eventually obtaining S+ heroes, and says earlier stages are generally manageable with levelled and geared heroes. If you enjoy restarting to pursue a specific hero, that is a personal choice; the available guidance does not show that a beginner must do it.
Check how current a tier list is
The cited Pocket Gamer ranking was updated September 3, 2026 and identifies version 1.0.53 as its basis. It is the newest version-specific ranking established here, but it is not a developer balance notice; whether version 1.0.53 remained the live version after that update is not established. Before treating ranks as definitive, check current in-game availability and changes announced for the game.
