A pre-launch report attributed prices of €599 for the standard ROG Xbox Ally and €899 for the Ally X to leaker Extas1s. Those figures were unconfirmed when reported. ASUS later displayed US prices of $599.99 for the standard Ally and $999.99 for Ally X on its product pages, checked October 4, 2026. They are different figures for different markets and moments—not a conversion of the leak.
What did the ROG Xbox Ally price leak say?
MeriStation reported that leaker Extas1s put the standard ROG Xbox Ally at €599 and the Ally X at €899. MeriStation noted at the time that ASUS and Microsoft had not announced prices, so these were reported leak figures, not confirmed launch prices. MeriStation’s leak report
The same report offered a Spanish-market snapshot of competitors: €419 for the Steam Deck LCD, €569 for Steam Deck OLED, €630–€799.99 for Lenovo Legion Go models, and a price level for the Ally X roughly matching the leaked €899. These are historical euro figures from that report, not current quotes. They should not be directly compared with US prices or treated as live offers. MeriStation’s historical price comparison

What do you get for the extra cost of the Ally X?
The Ally X is a higher hardware tier, not simply the same handheld with a different label. ASUS lists the standard Ally with a Ryzen Z2 A processor and the X with a Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme. ASUS specifies an 80Wh battery for the X; Xbox lists 60Wh or 80Wh capacities across the Ally family. Both are described with a 120Hz, 1080p display. ASUS standard Ally specifications · ASUS Ally X specifications · Xbox Ally family details
ASUS advertises “up to 2X battery life” for the X compared with the previous ROG Ally X, but that is a manufacturer test claim under narrow conditions: Hollow Knight: Silksong at 720p, capped at 60 FPS, low in-game graphics, and Silent mode. It is not a general prediction for other games or settings. ASUS Ally X battery test conditions

How does it compare with Steam Deck and Legion Go?
The historical leak-era euro prices are useful only as context. For a more recent, dated US comparison, Windows Central cited Legion Go 2 configurations at $1,049.99 and $1,349.99 in its October 16, 2025 hands-on article. Those are review-era prices, not verified current listings. Current Valve and Lenovo store prices are not established here, so compare live prices before buying. | Handheld | Price evidence | What distinguishes it |
|---|---|---|
| ROG Xbox Ally | $599.99 on ASUS’s US page, checked October 4, 2026. | Ryzen Z2 A; 120Hz, 1080p display. |
| ROG Xbox Ally X | $999.99 on ASUS’s US page, checked October 4, 2026. | Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme; 80Wh battery; 7-inch IPS, 120Hz 1920×1080 display. |
| Steam Deck | Historical MeriStation report: €419 LCD and €569–€679 OLED, depending on model; not current pricing. | A relevant alternative in the leak-era price comparison. Current price and model availability are not established here. |
| Lenovo Legion Go 2 | Windows Central cited $1,049.99 and $1,349.99 configurations on October 16, 2025; dated review prices. | 8.8-inch OLED, 144Hz 1920×1200 screen, detachable controllers, and kickstand. |
The Legion Go 2’s larger OLED screen, higher refresh rate, detachable controllers, and kickstand make it a different kind of device from the more compact Ally X. The Ally X has a 7-inch IPS screen, so screen size and tabletop flexibility may matter more to a buyer than a small price gap. Windows Central’s hands-on comparison
Windows Central’s review tests also illustrate why battery comparisons need their test conditions. In its Cyberpunk 2077 test at maximum TDP, the Legion Go 2 lasted 2 hours 17 minutes versus 1 hour 53 minutes for the Ally X. In its office-task test, the Ally X lasted 14 hours 24 minutes versus 11 hours 30 minutes for the Legion Go 2. These are results from that review’s specific methods, not expected runtimes for every game or workload. Windows Central’s test results and methodology

What does “Xbox” mean on this Windows handheld?
The Ally runs Windows 11 and can access supported games from Xbox and other PC storefronts. ASUS also lists Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta), which requires a Game Pass membership, and Xbox Remote Play. The branding does not mean every Xbox console game runs locally, nor does it establish that a Game Pass subscription is included indefinitely. ASUS Xbox features · Xbox device page

Which ROG Xbox Ally should you consider?
- Choose the standard Ally as the lower-priced option: ASUS’s US page displayed it at $599.99 on October 4, 2026, and lists a Ryzen Z2 A processor.
- Consider Ally X for its higher-tier processor and larger stated battery: ASUS listed the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme and an 80Wh battery, alongside a $999.99 US page price on that date.
- Compare the Legion Go 2 if screen size or tabletop play is central: its review-described OLED display, detachable controllers, and kickstand are meaningful differences, though the cited prices are from October 2025.
- Check Steam Deck’s current models and prices directly before deciding: the euro figures in the leak-era comparison are historical, not current offers.
