Ghost of Yōtei uses “outfit” to mean more than one thing: its armor sets have gameplay perks, while later updates add cosmetics and let you separate an armor set’s appearance from its stats. The detailed base-game guide lists 12 armor sets, but that is not a complete catalog of every outfit or cosmetic available by October 4, 2026. Here are the documented routes, plus what is known about post-launch unlocks.
How to unlock the 12 base-game armor sets
The following routes are for the 12 base-game sets listed by Push Square’s October 10, 2025 armor guide. Some are obtained automatically or through exploration; others require a named quest or bounty.

Armor is not purely cosmetic: sets offer different gameplay effects, so pick a route based on whether you want a particular perk as well as a look. The guide includes perk and upgrade details for the sets; its list should be treated as the base-game armor list, not a verified inventory of all current cosmetics.
How to get cosmetics through New Game+
New Game+ unlocks after you finish the main story. Sucker Punch says the mode lets you replay with gear earned in the campaign and introduces Ghost Flowers, which can be exchanged with a new vendor for more than 30 cosmetics, including new armor sets and weapon dyes. The official New Game+ announcement confirms the vendor and overall cosmetic count, but does not give a complete item-by-item list or individual unlock requirements.

How Most Wanted cosmetics work
Most Wanted is a single-player mode built around escalating bounties featuring members of the Yōtei Six. You earn Mon during runs and spend it between runs. PlayStation confirms that cosmetics earned in the mode also unlock in the main game, so they can be worn during Atsu’s original story or the expansion. The official announcement does not specify an exact Mon cost or task for each outfit.
What Echoes of Sekigahara and the Complete Edition add
The Echoes of Sekigahara expansion adds armor sets and cosmetics in Ashoro Foothills, according to the official expansion announcement. It does not publish the full names or individual unlock steps for those items. The Complete Edition bundles Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted; it is not an unlock route for the original base-game sets.

Sakai Armor was offered as an early unlock tied to purchases or preorders made by September 30, 2026. That offer had passed by October 4, 2026, so it should not be treated as a currently available unlock for new purchases. The PlayStation product page provides edition information.
How to use an armor appearance with different stats
The October 2026 patch adds an option to keep one armor set’s appearance while using another set’s stats, as noted in PlayStation’s update announcement. Acquiring a set and applying its appearance are therefore separate matters: first unlock the armor or cosmetic you want to display, then use the appearance-and-stats option to retain that look with your chosen stat-bearing set.

Does this cover every outfit in Ghost of Yōtei?
No complete current catalog with item-by-item unlock conditions is established. The 12 entries above are the base-game armor sets in a guide published in 2025. Official sources confirm additional cosmetics in New Game+, Most Wanted, and Echoes of Sekigahara, but do not enumerate all of them or explain every individual unlock. Do not add the base-game count to the New Game+ cosmetic figure as if they were comparable totals: they cover different scopes.
