To make and sell classic Roblox clothes, create a T-shirt graphic or edit the Roblox Shirt or Pants template, test it on an avatar in Roblox Studio, then upload it through Creator Dashboard and put the approved item on sale. Selling requires meeting Roblox’s account and fee rules, and a listing does not guarantee purchases. Classic 2D clothing also does not work on many user-generated avatars.
Choose a classic clothing type
Roblox’s classic 2D formats are T-shirts, Shirts, and Pants. A T-shirt is a square graphic displayed on the front of a blocky avatar’s torso. A Shirt or Pants image wraps around the corresponding body regions, so it needs to be designed on the matching Roblox template. Classic clothing is distinct from 3D and layered clothing, which use a different creation and upload workflow.

Roblox notes that classic 2D clothing is unsupported by many user-generated avatars, so treat these as classic-avatar items rather than clothing that will fit every avatar. See Roblox’s Marketplace overview for the platform’s avatar-item context.
Create the clothing image
Use an image editor and a web browser; Roblox does not require a particular design program. For a T-shirt, a square image such as 512 × 512 pixels is one example size. For a Shirt or Pants, start from the corresponding Roblox template and place artwork on its mapped body panels.

Read the Shirt and Pants template
The template is a flat layout of body parts, not a picture of the finished clothing. Roblox’s template panels use these dimensions:
- Front and back torso panels: 128 × 128 pixels each.
- Torso side panels: 64 × 128 pixels each.
- Up and down panels: 128 × 64 pixels each.
- Small arm and leg top and bottom panels: 64 × 64 pixels each.
Follow the labels and panel positions in the official classic clothing guide, and export your finished image as PNG or JPG. A graphic that appears aligned in the flat file can shift or break at seams and joints, so preview it on a rig before upload.

Preview the design in Roblox Studio
Test the image on a Block Avatar rig before paying to upload. Roblox says Studio testing can be done without upload fees.
- In Roblox Studio, create a Block Avatar rig.
- For a T-shirt, add a
ShirtGraphicobject and assign the image toGraphic. - For a Shirt, add a
Shirtobject and assign the image toShirtTemplate. - For Pants, add a
Pantsobject and assign the image toPantsTemplate. - Inspect the whole avatar, especially seams, sleeve edges, and areas where the design meets joints.
Make corrections in the image editor and preview again if panels do not line up or the garment looks different when wrapped around the avatar.

Check eligibility and fees before uploading
Roblox’s Marketplace requirements can change. Under the policy and July 2026 update in effect for this guide, uploading and publishing require account checks, and publishing also has charges. The July 6, 2026 update says the 2D upload fee becomes 80 Robux starting July 14, 2026; 2D publishing remains 10 Robux.

Upload and list the item
Uploading sends the image for moderation; it does not automatically make the clothing purchasable. After Roblox approves it, configure the item for sale.
- Open Creator Dashboard → Avatar Items → Classics.
- Upload the image and select T-Shirt, Shirt, or Pants as appropriate.
- Enter a name and description, then submit the item for moderation.
- When it is approved, open the classic item’s Configure page and check its moderation status.
- Enable On Sale and set a price.
Understand what earning Robux means
Roblox says creators receive a commission when users purchase their Marketplace item, and holds the creator’s share for 30 days from the sale date. The official materials cited here do not establish a typical creator income, sales rate, or likelihood that a particular design will sell. A live listing makes the item available to buy; it does not ensure sales or a specific amount of Robux. See Roblox’s current Marketplace fees and commissions for applicable terms.

Keep the design original and policy-compliant
You need the rights to every element in the image. Roblox’s Marketplace policy says not to copy another creator’s or Roblox’s item, use Roblox-created assets or official Roblox branding or iconography in items, or sell content without permission from the relevant intellectual-property owner. Items must also comply with Community Standards, avoid disruptive designs, and be listed in the correct category. Moderation may reject or remove an item; review the current Marketplace policy before submitting.
Classic clothes or 3D clothing?
Use classic clothing when the design is a 2D texture for a classic T-shirt, Shirt, or Pants item. 3D and layered clothing are separate formats with different technical requirements, avatar compatibility, and Studio validation steps. The workflows are not interchangeable; Roblox’s Marketplace overview describes the broader item types.
