Costco was reported as a possible place to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 on its June 5, 2025 launch day—but that was an expectation published before launch, not confirmation of stock at every warehouse. The report is now historical: check Costco directly for current availability, price, purchase limits, and bundle contents before making a trip.
What Costco’s launch-day offer was reported to include
In a May 29, 2025 report, PCMag said Costco had a Switch 2 listing that described the console as expected to be available for purchase on June 5. The listing reportedly required a Costco membership and limited purchases to one unit per week. Its availability language said, “This product is expected to be in stock and available for purchase soon. Check back again later.” Read the May 29, 2025 report.

The report listed the Mario Kart World bundle at $499.99 and the standalone console at $449.99. The bundle included the Switch 2 console, Mario Kart World, and 12 months of Nintendo Switch Online. Those are launch-era prices and contents as reported in May 2025, not current Costco terms.
Bundle or standalone: the launch-era comparison

The report’s figures let readers compare the two launch-era offers, but they do not establish today’s price or whether the same bundle is still sold. Verify the current listing and included items before comparing value.

Why the listing did not guarantee a console nearby
The Costco listing carried the caveat, “Item may be available in your local warehouse, prices may vary.” That wording, reproduced in the PCMag report, meant an online listing or expected launch availability was not proof that a particular warehouse had stock or charged the listed price. The report did not verify that every Costco location received inventory or that any individual shopper could obtain a unit.

PCMag also named Staples, GameStop, Best Buy, and Target as retailers expected to have launch stock in June 2025. That was a forecast at the time, not evidence of current inventory at those stores. Check each retailer’s present listing and local availability rather than relying on the old launch-day expectation.

What to check before choosing a retailer now
- Confirm current stock for the specific online listing or local store; availability at one location does not establish availability elsewhere.
- Check whether membership is required and whether a purchase limit applies. Costco’s reported one-per-week limit was part of its launch-era listing, not a verified current policy.
- Compare the price and exact bundle contents shown today, including any included game or Nintendo Switch Online membership.
- For a warehouse purchase, confirm the local price and availability before traveling; Costco’s reported listing cautioned that both could vary.
