Choose the Mexico mod that matches what you want
Nexus Mods lists Nuevo Paraiso – The Forgotten Frontier as a community-created mod by Mexico Team, uploaded by Rixus724. Its listing describes classic Nuevo Paraiso locations restored as a new state in RDR2’s 1907 setting. The listing’s displayed version is 1.2 and its last-updated date is 17 September 2026, but the changelog also contains an entry labeled Version 2.0. That mismatch leaves the version unclear; check the page’s current files, notes, and discussion before downloading.

If you only want Nuevo Paraíso added to the in-game minimap, Mexico on Minimap is a separate mod. Its stated purpose is map display, not restoring a region to explore. Both options list Lenny’s Mod Loader and Script Hook RDR2 as requirements.
Check requirements and compatibility before installing
The Forgotten Frontier listing marks Lenny’s Mod Loader as mandatory and says Script Hook RDR2 is required for its ASI files. It also lists ScriptHookRDR2 V2 as an alternative version of AB Script Hook. For players with many mods installed, it recommends Sir Joseph’s LML Startup Crash Fix. These are the listing’s stated dependencies and recommendation; confirm their current requirements and the featured mod’s bundled instructions before adding anything to the game.

The captured Forgotten Frontier listing does not identify a confirmed RDR2 game build or launcher version. It therefore does not establish compatibility with a particular update, including the latest one. General modding guidance likewise advises backing up the game folder and following each mod’s own instructions in preference to generic directions. Install The Forgotten Frontier safely
- Review the current mod page. Confirm the available download, its version notes, required tools, and any updated author instructions. The page’s 1.2 display and Version 2.0 changelog entry make this check especially important.
- Back up the game folder. General RDR2 modding guidance recommends making a backup before changing game files, so you have a way to restore the original setup.
- Install the listed prerequisites. Set up Lenny’s Mod Loader and Script Hook RDR2 using their current instructions. Add ScriptHookRDR2 V2 only if the current mod instructions call for that alternative, and consider the listed startup crash fix if you use many mods.
- Follow the downloaded mod’s instructions exactly. Use the steps supplied with the current Forgotten Frontier download for its files and folders. Do not assume another mod’s file-placement directions apply to this one.
- Launch in single-player. General installation guidance says Script Hook does not work in multiplayer and will force-close the game if multiplayer is launched. Keep this modded setup to single-player.
For the separate Mexico on Minimap mod, its listing says to place its lml folder in the game directory and requires Script Hook RDR2 and Lenny’s Mod Loader. That instruction is specific to that mod and should not be substituted for The Forgotten Frontier’s own installation steps.

What The Forgotten Frontier describes for exploration
GamesRadar reported creator Rixus’s description of a Mexico recreated for RDR2’s 1907 period. The creator-described scope includes settlements, hidden locations, activities, encounters, mysteries, wildlife, local people, classic characters, and dangers. Rixus framed the setting as a place where “beautiful landscapes and growing settlements stand alongside political unrest, government oppression, and a population struggling under an increasingly unstable regime.” This is a preview of the creator’s stated ambitions, not independent confirmation that every feature is complete or works in every installation.
After installation, explore according to the content and locations actually present in your downloaded version; the listing’s version discrepancy and lack of a confirmed game-build compatibility statement mean the available experience may depend on the current files and setup.

If the mod does not load
- Check dependencies first. Verify that Lenny’s Mod Loader and Script Hook RDR2 are installed as required by the current listing, and that you have followed the instructions for the downloaded version.
- Recheck the mod’s files and notes. Confirm that the download’s own directions were followed. Do not use Mexico on Minimap’s folder-placement instruction as a substitute.
- Account for other mods. The listing recommends Sir Joseph’s LML Startup Crash Fix for users with many mods installed; it does not say that the fix resolves every startup problem.
- Check game-build compatibility rather than guessing. The captured listing does not state a supported RDR2 build or launcher version. Look for current author notes or release discussions before assuming a game update is compatible.
- Keep Script Hook out of multiplayer. General RDR2 guidance says launching multiplayer with Script Hook will force-close the game.
