Add a game to your Steam Wishlist, then enable the notification channel you want: email, the Steam mobile app, or both. Email alerts are managed in Account Details; Steam confirms mobile alerts but its official guidance does not specify the current in-app menu path.
Add a game to your Steam Wishlist
- Sign in to Steam and open the game’s store page.
- Select Add to your Wishlist.
- To find the list later, hover over Store and choose Wishlist. You can manage entries in the Steam client or a browser. Steam Support’s Wishlist guide also explains how to remove entries. Wishlist visibility follows your Community Profile privacy settings.
Choose how Steam should notify you
Steam supports sale notifications by email and through the Steam mobile app. Its Wishlist Notifications page identifies Daily Deal, Midweek Deal, and Weekend Deal promotions as alert categories. You can use either channel or both.

Turn on email notifications
- Open the account-name menu in the upper-right corner of Steam.
- Select Account Details, then Manage Email Preferences.
- Review the message preferences and enable the sale-related notifications you want. Steam requires your email address to be verified for these notifications. The specific wording of the current checkbox may change; use the relevant sale-message preference rather than relying on an assumed label. Turn on mobile notifications
Install and sign in to the Steam mobile app, then review its notification settings for Wishlist or sale alerts. Steam’s official notification page confirms the app as a channel and notes that mobile alerts can be switched off, but does not document the current sequence of screens or the precise setting name. If you do not see an alert option, avoid assuming it is enabled; check that app notifications are allowed on your device as well.
Why a wishlist price drop may not trigger an alert
A Wishlist alert is not a promise that every price decrease will generate a message. Steamworks describes conditions for a promotion notification: the discount must be at least 20%, apply at minimum to the lowest-priced package, and last longer than eight hours. These are conditions in developer-facing documentation, not a guarantee for every price change or notification. Steamworks’ Wishlist documentation gives the platform’s description.

Delivery is not necessarily immediate. Steamworks says email can take hours to send and longer during high-volume periods. It also describes a one-to-two-week cooldown between notifications for an app, which may be extended when notification traffic is high. The documentation reviewed does not state a publication date for these operating conditions, so treat them as Steam’s documented behavior, not a fixed arrival-time promise.

- Confirm the game is still wishlisted. Open Store → Wishlist and check the entry.
- For email, verify your address and preferences. Use Account Details → Manage Email Preferences and make sure the relevant message type is allowed.
- For mobile, check notification settings. Make sure Steam mobile alerts have not been disabled in the app, and check your device’s notification permissions.
- Allow for delivery delays and cooldowns. An alert may arrive hours later, take longer during busy periods, or be affected by the app-specific cooldown Steamworks describes.
