Their September 9, 2025 announcement describes a planned integration of the Xbox app with LG’s webOS Automotive Content Platform (ACP) for select internet-connected vehicles.
How the announced in-car Xbox setup is supposed to work
This is a planned infotainment integration, not an Xbox console installed in a car. In an eligible vehicle, a passenger would open the Xbox app on the infotainment system, sign in with a supported Game Pass account, pair a compatible Bluetooth controller and stream over the vehicle’s supported internet connection. Xbox says an automotive data plan is required to access streaming services. Xbox’s announcement and LG’s announcement describe the experience for select vehicles using LG webOS ACP.
- Vehicle platform: the car must support LG’s webOS Automotive Content Platform and have the Xbox app enabled for its system.
- Account and game access: the account must have a plan and access that permit the desired cloud gaming. The original vehicle announcement specifically names Game Pass Ultimate; it does not establish support for every Game Pass tier.
- Controller: Xbox specifies a compatible Bluetooth controller, but the announcement does not certify a universal model for every vehicle.
- Connectivity: streaming requires supported internet access and an automotive data plan. A connected car, phone hotspot or LG-branded product alone does not establish compatibility.
Which cars support Xbox Cloud Gaming?
The announcements do not identify supported makes, models, countries or a retail launch date. Xbox said the companies were working to integrate the experience in select vehicles; its September 29, 2025 roundup still described it as “Coming soon.” The available official information therefore confirms a partnership plan, not that a particular car can use the service now. Check the vehicle maker’s current infotainment and connected-services information for the exact model, market and software configuration before relying on the feature.
LG’s stated ambition is broader than the Xbox rollout: its September 2025 announcement said it aims to supply webOS-based ACP to 20 million vehicles by 2030. That is a company target for its platform, not a count of vehicles with Xbox gaming or an achieved deployment figure.

What games and Game Pass access were announced?
LG described access to hundreds of games for passengers with Game Pass Ultimate, a compatible controller and supported internet access. Xbox also said subscribers could stream select games they already owned. Its announcement examples included Forza Horizon 5, Gears of War: Reloaded, The Outer Worlds 2, Bugsnax, Don’t Starve and Mafia: The Old Country; LG also named Doom: The Dark Ages. These were examples at announcement, not a guarantee that each title is currently playable in a car. Microsoft’s general cloud gaming guidance says availability can vary by time, region, plan and platform.
There is also a later subscription change to keep separate from vehicle eligibility. In a September 3, 2026 update, Microsoft said monthly cloud gaming allowances included with Game Pass plans would change beginning in November 2026: 15 hours for Ultimate, 10 for Premium and 5 for Essential. Microsoft said further details on pricing, extra hours, eligible games and market availability would follow. That update does not establish which tiers work with the car integration, so verify the vehicle-specific terms rather than assuming the general plan rules apply.

Is this meant for the driver?
No. The companies describe passenger entertainment, including during a charging stop or road trip. Xbox says the services operate in compliance with driving safety regulations; that does not make gaming appropriate for the driver. Treat the feature as passenger use only, and follow local laws and the vehicle maker’s safety guidance.
