Complete the main story of Pokémon Legends: Z-A before starting Mega Dimension: Nintendo says the expansion’s story, including the Mega Raichu X and Y Stones, becomes playable after the main game. The DLC’s advertised roster includes seven forms; a December 17, 2025 Nintendo Life guide lists additional new forms and guide-reported routes, plus returning Mega and Primal forms. Exact routes for some entries need in-game confirmation, so they are identified below rather than presented as official unlock instructions.
The add-on requires Pokémon Legends: Z-A or the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. Nintendo Support’s DLC access requirements and the official store listing provide the platform and access details.
New Mega Evolutions in Mega Dimension
The Pokémon Company’s official Mega Dimension page advertises seven forms by name. It confirms the forms are part of the expansion, but does not provide their individual Mega Stone unlock routes. The routes in the table are reported by Nintendo Life’s December 17, 2025 guide, not by the official page; treat them as guide-reported and check the in-game mission or reward screen for current details.
| Mega form | Guide-reported Mega Stone route | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Mega Raichu X | Complete Side Mission 139, “The Dauntless Raichu Duo,” for Raichunite X. | The guide says the mission appears in a random yellow Hyperspace portal and requires Side Missions 2 and 108 first. Nintendo Support confirms the Raichu Stones are part of postgame story content. |
| Mega Raichu Y | Complete Side Mission 139, “The Dauntless Raichu Duo,” for Raichunite Y. | Same guide-reported access conditions as Raichu X. X and Y require different stones. |
| Mega Chimecho | Defeat Rogue Mega Chimecho in a random yellow two-star Hyperspace portal to receive Chimechite. | Random portal encounter, according to the guide. |
| Mega Baxcalibur | The guide lists Baxcalibrite as a Ranked Battle Season 4 reward. | This is a historical season reference, not confirmation that Season 4 or its reward is currently available. Ranked rewards are season-dependent. |
| Mega Zeraora | Complete the side mission “Raging Lightning” for Zeraorite. | The guide does not provide further prerequisites in the cited entry. |
| Mega Lucario Z | The guide associates Lucarionite Z with Side Mission 197. | The guide’s route text appears corrupted and duplicates the Zeraora route. The exact mission requirement and prerequisites are not established by the official DLC page; verify them in game. |
| Mega Garchomp Z | Not stated by the official DLC page or the cited Nintendo Life route list. | The form is advertised by Nintendo, but the sources here do not establish how to obtain its stone. |
The seven advertised names are a confirmed official roster, not proof that these are the only new forms in the expansion. Nintendo Life’s longer list below is a secondary guide inventory.

Other new forms and guide-reported stone locations
Nintendo Life’s December 17, 2025 guide reports the following additional Mega forms and routes. These specific mission and portal details are not stated on the official DLC page.
| Mega form | Guide-reported route |
|---|---|
| Mega Absol Z | Defeat Rogue Mega Absol Z in Hyperspace Lumiose Survey No. 1 to obtain Absolite Z. |
| Mega Crabominable | Complete the “Rogue Mega Showdown” side mission for Crabominite. |

| Mega Staraptor | Defeat Rogue Mega Staraptor in Hyperspace Lumiose Survey No. 2 for Staraptite. |
| Mega Tatsugiri | Defeat Rogue Mega Tatsugiri in Hyperspace Lumiose Survey No. 3 for Tatsugirinite. The guide says all three Tatsugiri forms share Dragon/Water typing when Mega Evolved. |
| Mega Golisopod | Defeat Rogue Mega Golisopod in a random yellow three-star Hyperspace portal for Golisopite. |
| Mega Golurk | Defeat Rogue Mega Golurk in a random yellow three-star Hyperspace portal for Golurkite. |

For context, Nintendo describes Hyperspace Lumiose as an alternate version of Lumiose reached through distortions and Hoopa-created portals; Pokémon there can have hyperspace levels above the normal level 100 cap. See the Nintendo store listing.

Returning Mega and Primal forms in the DLC
The same Nintendo Life guide says these routes become available after finishing the DLC credits, following the Darkrai encounter. Its Primal Kyogre entry contains an apparent typo: it names Groudon and the Red Stone, so that route cannot be reliably stated from the guide. The other listed routes are still guide-reported, not official mission instructions.
| Form | Guide-reported route | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Primal Groudon | Hyperspace Mission 13, “A Ruby-Red Legend.” | Guide-reported; listed as available after DLC credits. |
| Primal Kyogre | Not stated reliably. | The guide’s row appears to contain a typo, so it does not establish the correct encounter or item. |
| Mega Rayquaza | Hyperspace Mission 12, “The Greatest Gift,” after Missions 13 and 14. | Guide-reported; listed as available after DLC credits. |
| Mega Latias and Mega Latios | Complete Side Mission 189, “Siblings of the Sky.” | Guide-reported; listed as available after DLC credits. |
Do not count free-update forms as Mega Dimension additions
Mega Mewtwo X, Mega Mewtwo Y, and Mega Diancie are identified by Nintendo Life as forms added through free Mystery Gift updates, not the paid Mega Dimension DLC. They should not be mixed into a list of forms introduced through the expansion.

What is confirmed, and what to verify in game
- Postgame access: Nintendo Support says the DLC story content that includes the Mega Raichu X and Y Stones is playable only after completing the main story.
- Officially advertised forms: Nintendo names Raichu X, Raichu Y, Chimecho, Baxcalibur, Zeraora, Lucario Z, and Garchomp Z. Its page does not give their exact stone routes.
- Season rewards can change: Baxcalibrite’s Season 4 route is historical. The Pokémon Company has separately described Mega Stone rewards for Ranked Battle Season 8, illustrating why a past season reward should not be treated as currently earnable: Season 8 announcement.
- Specific guide routes are secondary evidence: Nintendo Life published its route list on December 17, 2025. Its Lucario Z entry is corrupted, and its Kyogre entry has a contradictory item and Pokémon; consult in-game objectives rather than relying on those two entries as exact directions.
