You can watch a local FOX game online through FOX Sports if you sign in with TV-provider credentials. Local broadcast games may also be free over the air with an available station and, if needed, an antenna. NFL Channel streams free NFL programming but not live games; NFL+ is paid.
Which free options actually show a live game?
| Option | Live NFL games? | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| Local over-the-air broadcast | Yes, when a local station carries the game | A station available in your area; an antenna may be needed for reception. No monthly subscription is required. |
| Local FOX game through FOX Sports | Yes, for the local FOX game | TV-provider credentials to sign in. This is not a credential-free stream. |
| NFL Channel | No | Free access through the NFL app on supported connected TVs and partner platforms. |
| NFL+ | Yes, subject to its plan and device limits | A paid subscription. The base plan’s live games are for mobile devices. |
Watch a local game free over the air
A local broadcast station may carry an NFL game that you can receive without paying a monthly subscription. FOX Sports says an antenna can receive available local FOX, CBS, NBC, and ABC broadcasts; which stations you can receive depends on your location and reception conditions. Check local station availability and reception before buying an antenna.
This is a broadcast-TV option, not an online stream. It also will not unlock out-of-market games or matchups carried exclusively by a streaming service.
Stream a local FOX game with TV-provider sign-in
The NFL identifies FOX Sports as an online option for your local FOX game. You must sign in with TV-provider credentials, so this route is authorized but not free of sign-in requirements. It does not establish access to every FOX game, every matchup in another market, or games carried by other partners.

What NFL Channel includes—and what it does not
NFL Channel is free programming available through the NFL app on connected TVs and partner platforms including Amazon, Peacock, PlayStation 5, Plex, Pluto TV, Roku, Samsung TV Plus, TCL, Tubi, Vizio, and Xumo. It offers NFL shows, replays, and live game-day coverage, but that coverage is not a live game broadcast. The NFL Channel FAQ states: “There are no live NFL games on NFL Channel.”
NFL+ is paid, and live viewing is device-limited
For the 2026 season, the NFL lists NFL+ at $6.99 per month or $49.99 per year. Its base plan includes live local and primetime regular-season and postseason games on mobile devices. NFL+ Premium is listed at $14.99 per month or $99.99 per year and adds NFL RedZone, full or condensed game replays, and All-22 film; the NFL describes replays as available across devices. These are season-specific prices and features, not a free viewing route.

Find the authorized service for a particular matchup
Game rights are divided among broadcast and streaming partners. The NFL’s viewing guide lists services including NFL+, NFL Sunday Ticket, FOX One, Peacock, Paramount+, ESPN, Amazon Prime Video, and Netflix. Which option applies depends on the game and your location, so check the NFL’s schedule and viewing information for the specific matchup rather than assuming one service carries them all.
Use a broadcaster or service identified by the NFL for that game. A website’s claim that it streams games for free does not, by itself, establish that the stream is authorized.
