Rockstar’s May 2, 2025 announcement moved the game from Fall 2025 to May 26, 2026. The company wrote: “We hope you understand we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.” The announcement did not give a more detailed development or production explanation. Associated Press reporting on the May 2025 delay reproduced the statement.
Rockstar announced another delay in November 2025, setting November 19, 2026 as the new date. Its statement said: “These extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.” Take-Two’s May 21, 2026 release schedule also listed November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar’s game page showed the same date and platforms on October 4, 2026. Rockstar’s GTA VI page and Take-Two’s fiscal 2026 results support the current listing.
Why was GTA 6 delayed?
Rockstar’s published explanation for both delays is that it needed more time for quality and polish. The company did not publicly identify a more specific cause in the cited announcements, so claims about particular development problems or internal circumstances are not established by those statements.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick referred to the November 19 launch in the company’s May 21, 2026 earnings release, saying it would drive Fiscal 2027 operating performance. That is corporate earnings commentary, not a guarantee that the date cannot change. Take-Two cautions that actual outcomes may differ and identifies timely game delivery among its risks.
Will GTA 6 be on PC?
The current announced platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The cited official sources do not establish a PC release date, so there is no confirmed PC launch date to report.

What to know before pre-ordering
Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 announcement said pre-orders would begin June 25 at midnight local time, and listed a $79.99 standard edition and a $99.99 Ultimate Edition. It also described a Vintage Vice City Pack for pre-orders and purchases made before November 20, plus one free month of GTA+ for digital pre-orders.
