When did Gray Zone Warfare enter Early Access?
Gray Zone Warfare launched in Early Access on April 30, 2024. MADFINGER Games’ announcement, published April 29, said the game would “go[] live worldwide tomorrow, April 30th.” The announcement gave the launch time as 6 AM PT, 9 AM ET, 2 PM BST, 3 PM CEST, 9 PM CST and 11 PM AEST. What is in the announcement trailer?
The official video listing describes it as a special Early Access release-date trailer and says it features a small group of creators who played the first pre-alpha test in March. That description establishes who appears in the video, but does not identify every scene or say that its footage represents the finished game or the current build. What kind of game is Gray Zone Warfare?
Steam describes Gray Zone Warfare as a “high-stakes PvE-first open-world tactical shooter” set on a quarantined Southeast Asian island. Players deploy alone or with a squad to carry out missions. Steam identifies MADFINGER Games, a.s. as both developer and publisher and labels the game Early Access. What did the developer say Early Access would include?
In its February 27, 2024 Early Access FAQ, MADFINGER Games described Early Access as a long-term development period that could span several years. The FAQ outlined a planned scope of a 42 km² game world, three PMC factions and up to 48 players in total. These figures record the developer’s plans at that time; they are not independent measurements or guarantees about the current build.
