There are two different Kingdom Hearts collections to know about: the original Nintendo Switch releases were cloud-streamed games, while KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III] is a separate collection for Nintendo Switch 2, scheduled for October 8, 2026. The Switch 2 collection includes HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX, HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind. Not every item is a playable game: some are movies or cutscene compilations.
Which Kingdom Hearts collection is for your Switch?
The distinction is the console and how the games run. The earlier releases for the original Nintendo Switch were cloud versions, which stream gameplay over the internet. Square Enix discontinued sales of those cloud products on June 9, 2026, and says service for existing owners ends June 9, 2027 at 14:59 UTC. The separate KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III] is a Nintendo Switch 2 release, scheduled for October 8, 2026; it is not the original Switch collection. Square Enix’s collection page and its UK Nintendo listing identify the Switch 2 product.

Release information is based on Square Enix’s product page and the UK Nintendo listing; availability and release details can vary by region. The physical edition is for Switch 2, not the original Switch.
What games and stories are included?
The Switch 2 collection combines three bundles. Square Enix lists six entries in 1.5+2.5 and three in 2.8, but those counts include video material, not just playable games.

Square Enix’s February 11, 2022 announcement described the earlier cloud collection as containing “10 games and cinematic experiences” across its volumes. That dated promotional wording combines games with cinematic material; it does not mean the bundle has ten fully playable games. The current bundle contents are listed on Square Enix’s collection page.
What order should you play the games in?
For a straightforward first playthrough, follow the collection’s progression: HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX, then HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, then KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind. Square Enix presents the first bundle as the opening six stories and describes 2.8 as adventures leading up to KINGDOM HEARTS III. This is a practical bundle order, not a claim that it is the only possible chronology.

- Finish with KINGDOM HEARTS III and its Re Mind DLC.
How did cloud streaming work on the original Switch?
Nintendo’s cloud-games FAQ for the Americas explains that the game runs on a server and streams to the console. The full game is not downloaded to the Switch, although a small launcher download is required. A stable, consistent high-speed internet connection is necessary; an unstable connection may disconnect after a few minutes.
- Nintendo Switch Online: A membership is not required to play cloud versions. Nintendo advises checking each game’s details for any online features.
- Connection trial: Nintendo offers a brief, limited trial where one is provided, so players can check their connection before paying. A successful trial does not guarantee future connection quality.
- Offline play: Because the full game is streamed, the original Switch cloud versions require an internet connection during play.
Square Enix’s North American service notice says sales of the four Kingdom Hearts cloud products ended on June 9, 2026 at 14:59 UTC. It gives June 9, 2027 at 14:59 UTC as the service end time, so existing owners’ access is time-limited under that notice.

Does the Switch 2 collection have a physical edition?
Yes. Square Enix lists KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III] in physical and digital formats for Nintendo Switch 2. The physical version requires an internet connection to download additional data, so “physical” does not mean the full collection is ready to play without a download. The separate original-Switch release of HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX is listed as digital-only. See Square Enix’s collection details.
Can owners transfer saves or get a discount?
According to Square Enix’s North American service notice, eligible owners of cloud versions can transfer cloud-version save data to Nintendo Switch 2 and can buy corresponding digital successor versions at a discount. The physical Switch 2 collection is not eligible for the announced discount. Owners of INTEGRUM MASTERPIECE for Cloud qualify for discounts on all digital versions. These conditions refer to Square Enix’s stated offer; check the notice for applicable versions and regional terms.
