There are 12 initial Journalist’s Stashes across the Zone, followed by a separate thirteenth cache in Prypiat later in the campaign. Take the Journalist’s Flash Drive from your personal stash after “A Needle in a Haystack” to reveal the first group’s markers on your PDA map. Use those markers with the landmark routes below; exact coordinates are not established in the available guides.
How to unlock the Journalist’s Stashes
After completing “A Needle in a Haystack,” open your personal stash and take the Journalist’s Flash Drive. Taking the drive—not merely finishing the mission—is what reveals the initial stash markers. If you completed the mission but cannot see them, check whether the drive is still in the stash. The game’s PDA map shows quest markers and caches, while the mission log tracks active and completed missions; follow the in-game marker alongside the directions here. Where to find the 12 initial stashes
The first group spans multiple regions, and several caches require climbing or navigating hazards. Routes and rewards below follow published guides; use your PDA markers to identify the precise destination in your game.
1. Lesser Zone: Zalissya rooftop
Find the house with a blue truck just beyond Zalissya’s northern edge. Sprint-jump onto the truck’s hood, climb onto the roof, drop to the balcony, then enter the attic through the wall opening. If you cannot make the jump, reduce your carried weight. The reported reward is a Mercenary’s Light Suit and a PTM Monolith handgun.

2. Lesser Zone: abandoned factory northeast of Zalissya
Climb the exterior ladder to the factory roof, then use the adjacent roof ladder to descend to the stash. The reported reward is a Viper Monolith SMG.
3. Lesser Zone: Sphere facility
Search along the facility’s outer wall. The reported reward is an AR416 Monolith assault rifle.
4. Garbage: southern riverbank
Look for an old bus near the river. The cache is inside or at the bus. The reported reward is an M860 Monolith shotgun.
5. Garbage: junkyard north of Slag Heap
Climb across the derelict vehicles to reach the container. The reported reward is a Tourist Suit.

Expect gravity anomalies and a Poltergeist inside the abandoned school. Take the loot and retreat rather than lingering. The reported reward is a Riemann SMG.
7. Yaniv: east of Yaniv Base
Search the abandoned train and open the accessible car. The reported reward is a Model Competitor revolver.
8. Swamps: ruined farmhouse
Climb from the lorry to the fence and roof, then enter the farmhouse through the opening. The reported reward is a Veteran assault rifle.

9. Swamps: Clear Sky Base
At the southeastern tip of the Swamps, reach the ruined building’s open roof or ledge. This route becomes accessible after you reach the relevant main-quest area. A gravity anomaly can shove you off course; throwing a bolt temporarily dissipates it. The reported reward is a Wanderer Suit with +8 kg maximum carry weight.

Use the yellow truck to reach the wall ledges, traverse to the far side, then enter through the opening. This route also opens a metal gate on the second floor. The reported reward is a Lullaby assault rifle.
11. Burnt Forest: burned village
In the house affected by a fire anomaly, climb down the ladder into the cellar. The reported reward is an SSP-100M SIRCAA suit.
12. Duga: fortified base armory
The Duga base is dangerous: the main gate and walled section are exposed to sniper fire. A guide describes a safer approach from the southeast. During “Happiness For Everyone,” speak to Star before leaving the building; the guide reports that the door locked after the player moved away. At the marked armory, defeat the Burer, activate the generator, reach the control room, and use the switch to open the locker-area gate. The reported rewards are an SA-U Gabon assault rifle and a nearby SEVA-I Suit.

The final cache is separate from the initial twelve and becomes known after you collect the Duga stash. Listen to the new recording, then progress to “The Boundary”; either outcome described in the guide leads to Prypiat. This section includes a late-campaign location and keypad code.
Route and rewards
Track the quest marker, follow the southern wall to the courtyard and apartment building, and deal with the mutant dogs and Psydogs. Enter 2021 at the upper-floor keypad. The reported rewards are a Margach D-12MT customized shotgun, a Hunter modified sniper rifle, and a PSZ-21W Shturm suit with +12 kg maximum carry weight. A Journalist’s PDA/message is also there.
Count and guide notes
The initial set is 12 stashes; the Prypiat cache is the additional thirteenth. One published guide labels two Duga subsections “#12,” but that is a duplicated heading, not an extra initial stash. The routes and rewards here come from published guides dated largely to November 2024, rather than personal gameplay testing, so consult your PDA markers and allow for possible changes in later patches.
