EA launched College Football 25 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S; its 2024 announcement did not list PS4, Xbox One, or PC. EA’s platform announcement and PlayStation’s US product page identify the PS5 version. Check the store listing for your region and platform before purchase.
What does College Football 25 offer?
EA’s launch materials list four modes: Dynasty, Road to Glory, Road to the College Football Playoff, and College Football Ultimate Team. Dynasty is built around developing a program as a coach; Road to Glory follows a student-athlete’s career. The other two provide playoff-focused and collection-oriented ways to play. EA’s launch announcement describes the modes and their intended focus.

At launch, Electronic Arts reported 134 FBS universities and more than 150 stadiums. These publisher-reported counts describe the game’s breadth, not the quality or balance of every team, stadium, or mode.
How does its gameplay design work?
EA calls its gameplay suite CampusIQ. The company says player ratings and play styles shape on-field outcomes, while systems for physical wear, pre-snap recognition, composure, and homefield effects influence decisions and execution. EA’s feature overview and gameplay deep dive describe those intended systems; those descriptions alone do not establish how fair, readable, or enjoyable they feel in play.

Wear, fatigue, and roster decisions
EA describes Wear & Tear as tracking cumulative physical impacts, while fatigue is a separate condition. The distinction is meant to make player management more consequential than simply waiting for stamina to recover: repeated hits can matter beyond the current play. Whether that creates satisfying strategy or interrupts a preferred rotation is a matter of play style, and cannot be settled from the feature description alone.
Pre-snap recognition and homefield effects
EA says player experience informs pre-snap recognition, and that homefield advantages can disrupt a visiting offense through effects such as screen shake or missing pre-play icons. In principle, these systems ask players to account for personnel and environment, not just select a play. The promotional materials do not establish how frequently those effects occur or how well newcomers can read them.

Playbook scale
Electronic Arts reported more than 1,500 new plays, more than 50 formations, 134 team playbooks, and 10 non-team playbooks in 2024. Those are publisher counts: they indicate variety on paper, but do not by themselves prove strategic depth, balance, or that every playbook feels distinct.
How does College Football 25 compare with College Football 27?
Because College Football 27 launched July 9, 2026, this is now a comparison between an older entry and the current game—not between two equally current editions. EA’s launch announcement establishes the newer game’s release, but the material available here does not establish comparable live prices, roster freshness, online support, or mode-by-mode depth. Confirm those details in the relevant current platform store and official game information before deciding.
